The Vertiv eSure™ Rectifier Module (Model Number: R48-2000e3, Specification Number: 1R482000e3) is a constant power rectifier designed to provide load power, battery float current, and battery recharge current during normal operating conditions. It is rated at a maximum output power of 2000W.
Function Description
The rectifier operates in one of three automatic modes depending on load demands:
- Constant Voltage Mode: Maintains a constant output voltage (adjustable from 42 to 58 volts DC) regardless of load, as long as the load current and output voltage product is approximately 2000W. This is the normal operating condition for supplying loads and float charging batteries.
- Constant Power Mode: As the load increases above approximately 2000W (non-adjustable), the output current increases while the output voltage decreases to maintain constant output power.
- Constant Current Mode: If the load reaches the current limit setting, the output voltage decreases linearly to maintain the output current at that limit.
The rectifier can operate at derated output power levels if the ambient temperature rises above or the input voltage falls below acceptable values.

Usage Features
- Hot Swappable: Designed for plug-and-play operation, allowing insertion or removal from a live DC power system without damage or affecting system output voltage.
- Paralleling: Up to 32 rectifiers can be connected in parallel in one system.
- Current Limit Adjustment: The current limit point can be set between 4 to 41.7 A via the controller, with an accuracy of ±1.5A when output voltage ranges from 42 to 58 V.
- Input Over/Under Voltage Protection: The rectifier shuts down at low (80V ±5 V) or high (305V ±5 V) input voltage. Hysteresis for restart is 15 VAC for low voltage and 10 VAC for high voltage.
- Output Protection (Overload / Reverse Current): Features a 63A fuse in the negative output DC bus (not customer replaceable).
- Advanced Current Limit Function: Maintains output current below the maximum limit set point during a short circuit, protecting the rectifier and connected equipment. Automatically restores normal operation when the fault is cleared.
- High Voltage Shutdown (HVSD):
- Adjustable Control: Shuts down if output voltage exceeds an adjustable preset value (56 VDC to 59 VDC via controller) while delivering more than 10% of rated current. Restarts after a configurable timer (factory default 5 minutes). Locks out if HVSD occurs again before the timer expires, requiring manual restart.
- Backup: Shuts down if output voltage exceeds 59.5 V ±0.5 V (non-adjustable) while delivering more than 10% of rated current. Follows the same restart and lockout procedure as adjustable control.
- Over-Temperature Protection: Derates output power and recovers automatically.
- Active Load Sharing: Uses advanced digital technology to maintain current balancing to within 3% of rated current among parallel rectifiers.
- Monitoring Function: Built-in advanced DSP monitors and controls operation, communicating with the controller in real time via CAN bus. Information exchanged includes input/output voltage and current, current limit setting, temperature, on/off status, fault alarms (HVSD, fan fail), protection alarms (input voltage, inner DC bus voltage, high temperature), thermal/AC derating, AC fail, imbalance output current, address, code, date, software/hardware version.
Maintenance Features
- Local Indicators: Three LEDs on the front panel provide status information:
- Power (Green): On (normal operation), Off (no input voltage, internal input fuse open), Flashing (rectifier being identified by controller).
- Protection (Yellow): On (AC input under/over voltage, PFC output under/over voltage, moderate load sharing imbalance, rectifier not fully inserted, over-temperature protection, operating in power derating mode, ECO Standby Mode), Flashing (loss of communication with controller).
- Alarm (Red): On (severe load sharing imbalance, output disabled, internal output fuse open, contradictory addresses), Flashing (fan not operating).
- Fan Fault Protection: The rectifier module shuts down and its alarm indicator (red) flashes if the fan fails. Fan failure is detected and reported to the controller.
- Fan Control: Fan speed is continuously variable, adjusted by the built-in processor based on internal temperature and output power. This feature can be disabled via the controller to run the fan at full speed.
- Rectifier Module Replacement: Rectifier modules are hot swappable and can be easily removed and installed. The process involves loosening a captive screw, pulling down the handle to retract the latch, sliding the module out, and reversing the steps for installation.
- Rectifier Fan Replacement: The fan (P/N: 32010474) is field replaceable. The procedure involves removing the rectifier from the shelf, placing it on a static-safe surface, removing the front panel, unplugging and replacing the fan, and reassembling. Proper fan orientation for front-to-back airflow is crucial.
