Overview

This document is an instruction manual for a Vestel dishwasher, model S-E0440. It provides comprehensive information on the appliance's installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The Vestel S-E0440 is a household dishwasher designed to clean and dry dishes efficiently. It features a "Süper Drying Unit" which aims to provide better drying performance. The dishwasher offers various programs tailored for different levels of soiling and types of dishes, including Pre-wash, Rapid Wash, Delicate Wash, Eco (Economical) mode, Super 50 min., and Intense Wash. It incorporates systems for water decalcification using softener salt and dispenses rinse aid for optimal washing and drying results.

Important Technical Specifications

The dishwasher has a capacity of 10 place settings. Its dimensions are:

  • Height: 850 mm (820 mm without worktop)
  • Width: 450 mm
  • Depth: 598 mm The net weight of the appliance is 36 kg. Electrical specifications:
  • Electricity input: 220-240 V, 50 Hz
  • Total Power: 1900 W
  • Heating Power: 1800 W
  • Pump Power: 100 W
  • Drain Pump Power: 30 W
  • Current: 10 A Water supply pressure: 0.03 MPa (0.3 bar) - 1 MPa (10 bar). The appliance is rated with an energy efficiency class of A++ and a drying efficiency class of A. Annual energy consumption (AEC) is 211 kWh per year (based on 280 standard cleaning cycles). Energy consumption (Et) per cycle is 0.73 kWh. Off-mode power consumption (Po) is 0.50 W. Left-on mode power consumption (P1) is 1.00 W. Annual water consumption (AWC) is 3080 liters per year (based on 280 standard cleaning cycles). The standard program name is "Eco," with a duration of 198 minutes. Noise level is 52 dB(A).

Usage Features

Loading: The dishwasher has an upper basket with racks and a lower basket, along with a cutlery basket. The upper basket height is adjustable to accommodate larger items in either the upper or lower basket. Dishes should be placed to allow free rotation of the spray arms. Sharp objects should be placed blade-down in the cutlery basket. Detergent: Users should use detergents specifically designed for dishwashers (powder, gel, or tablet). The detergent compartment can hold up to 40 cm³ of detergent, with recommendations for 25 cm³ for heavily soiled dishes and 15 cm³ for less soiled dishes. A 5 cm³ dose can be added to the pre-wash compartment for dishes with dried food wastes or heavy loads. Combined detergents (2-in-1, 3-in-1, 5-in-1) are also supported, but users should check product specifications and water hardness compatibility. Salt and Rinse Aid: The machine requires softener salt to reduce water hardness, which is crucial for effective washing and preventing lime residues. The salt compartment should be filled with approximately 1 kg of salt, and water should be added until it almost overflows during the first use. The salt consumption can be adjusted based on the local water hardness level, determined by a testing strip. The rinse aid compartment should be filled to the MAX level. Rinse aid dosage can be adjusted from level 1 (not dispensed) to level 5 (4 doses dispensed) to prevent spots and improve drying. Programs: The manual details several wash programs with their respective temperatures, food residue types, soil levels, detergent amounts, durations, power, and water consumption. Short programs typically do not include a drying step. Operating the Machine:

  • Switching On/Off: Use the On/Off button (4).
  • Program Selection: Use the program button (5) to choose a program.
  • Starting/Pausing: Use the Start/Pause button (6).
  • Monitoring: Program flow is indicated by Wash, Rinsing, Drying, and End lights (7).
  • Options: The option button (3) can activate "half load" (shortens program duration, reduces power/water consumption) or "tablet function" (for combined detergents). "Hygiene" and "Extra Rinsing" functions can be selected for more hygienic or shinier dishes, respectively. "Extra Drying" extends drying duration.
  • Delay Start: The delay button (2) allows delaying the program start time from 1 to 19 hours.
  • Indicators: Salt refill indicator (9) and rinse aid refill indicator (9) light up when supplies are low.
  • Changing/Cancelling Programs: Programs can be changed or cancelled by pressing and holding the Start/Pause button (6).
  • Auto Door Opening System: In models with this system, the door opens at the end of the program if the "EnergySave" option is selected. Users are warned not to force the door closed for 1 minute after opening.

Maintenance Features

Regular Cleaning:

  • Interior: Oil and lime can accumulate; run a high-temperature program with detergent (and special cleansing material if needed) without dishes.
  • Door Seals: Wipe regularly with a dampened cloth to remove residues.
  • Filters: Check and clean coarse and fine filters monthly under running water. To remove, turn counter-clockwise and lift. The metal/plastic filter, coarse filter, and micro filter should be cleaned thoroughly. Incorrect filter fitting reduces washing effectiveness.
  • Spray Arms: Check for clogged holes. Remove and clean under water. The lower spray arm pulls up, while the upper spray arm nut turns left to remove. Ensure the nut is tightened when refitting.
  • Hose Filter: The inlet hose filter prevents damage from contamination in the water supply. Check and clean it periodically by turning off the tap, removing the hose, and cleaning the filter under the tap.

Troubleshooting (Failure Codes): The manual lists error codes (F1, F2, F3, F5, F6, F7, F8, FE) and their descriptions, along with corresponding control actions (e.g., checking water tap, cleaning filters, contacting service).

Practical Information:

  • When not in use, unplug the machine, turn off the water, and leave the door slightly ajar to prevent odors.
  • To eliminate water droplets, run an intensive program with metal containers removed and no detergent.
  • Load dishes properly for energy and water efficiency.
  • Scrape off coarse waste before loading dishes.
  • Operate the machine when fully loaded.
  • Use pre-wash only when necessary.
  • Do not mount near a refrigerator due to high temperatures.
  • In freezing conditions, completely drain water from the machine by turning off the tap and disconnecting the inlet hose.
