Why is my Viking Ice Maker running but not making ice?

  If your Viking Ice Maker operates but isn't producing ice, first consider the time elapsed since the start. It's normal for ice to melt initially, with accumulation taking up to 24 hours. Ensure the selector switch is in the “ON” position. Also, check that the grid-cutter is plugged in. Verify that there is water in the reservoir, confirm the water line isn't restricted, and inspect the filters. A restricted drain system can cause melting, so check drain lines for kinks or obstructions. Ensure the condenser fan airflow isn't restricted by cleaning the grille and condenser coil. Lastly, make sure the room and water temperatures aren't too warm, keeping the unit away from heat sources.

  If your Viking Ice Maker isn't operating, start by ensuring it's properly plugged in. Then, check the breaker or fuse and replace if necessary, also checking for any shorts in the electrical circuit. Verify that the ice machine selector switch is in the “ON” position. Lastly, the evaporator and/or bin thermistors might be out of specification, so test them and replace if needed.
