General*Rules:*

• The*total*volume*of*water*in*your*pool*should*be*turned*over*at*least*once*a*day.*
• If*operatin g *fo r *lo n g e r*p e r io d s*of*time,*you*may*be*able*to *tu r n *th e *o u t p ut *o f*y o u r *sa lt *c h lo rin a t o r*to*a*lower*level.**
Check*your*chlorine*level*frequently*to*ensure*you*do*not*over*or*under*chlorinate*your*swimming*pool.*
• Low!Speed*is*factory*pre *set *and *is*t h e *re c o mmended*se t tin g *f o r*y o u r*d a ily *filtration*flow*rate*–*enough*to*gentle*
turn*the*water*over*once *per*da y*an d*circulate *the*w ater*co m pletely *aroun d*yo ur*po ol.*
• Medium!Speed*is*generally*s et *u p *a s*y o u r *sp e c ia l*p u rp o s e *flo w*rate.**For*exa mple,*an*infloor*c le a n in g *sy s te m*will*
require*higher*pressures *and *flow *rates*to*op era te*and *m ed ium *spe ed*ca n*be *set*up *to*ope rate*th e*infloor*clea ning *
system.***Other*special*purpose*flow*rates*may*include*but*are*not*limited*to:**operating*spa*jets,*operating*water*
falls*or*water*feature s,*op era ting *a*suc tio n*po o l*clea ne r.*
• High!Speed*is*generally *se t *up*to*backwas h *y o u r *sa n d *filt e r.***As*a*rule*of*thumb,*this*speed *s h o u ld *b e *se t *so *t h a t*
the*gauge*on*your*filter*is*approx ima tely*70k Pa*to *100*kP a*in*press ure*bu t*this*will*dep e n d *o n *th e *s iz e *o f*y o u r*filt e r,*
and*the*size*and*length*of*the*backwash*pipe*line.*

In*warm e r*weather,*or*w h e n *th e *p o ol*is*used*a*lot,*yo u r *p u mp*should*op e ra t e*f o r*1 2 *h o u rs *a *d a y *o r*more.***Check *y o u r *
chlorine*levels*and*visually*inspect*your*water*to*ensure*that*(a)*you*have*ad equ ate*ch lorine*an d*(b)*the *wate r*in*your*p oo l*
looks*clea r*a n d *in v it in g .**If*y o u *h a v e *a n y *d o u b ts ,*ta k e *a *sa mple*of*water *to *y o u r *lo c a l*p o o l*sh o p*for*a*water*analysis.*

Some*Tips:*
The*P320*will*provide*around*15,000*to*18,000*litres*per*hour*on*high*speed,*depending*on*pipework,*valves,*filter*size*and*
other*equipment*installed*on*your*pool.***On*low*speed*the*factory*preset*flow*rate*is*approximately*7,500*litres*per*hour.!!!
Low!speed!will!use!approximately!10%!of!the!power!consumption*that*high*speed*w ill*use.***Therefore,*operating*the*
pump*8*hours*per*day*will*provide*a*60,000*litr e*pool*one*complete*turn*ov e r.*

The*P600*pump*will*provide*around*36,000*litres*per*hour*on*high*speed,*depending*on*pipework*and*the*Factory*preset*
low*spee d *a t*1 1 2 5 *R P M*will*provide*a r o u n d *12,000*litre s *p e r*minute.***This*is*s uf fic ie n t*t o *tu rn *a *9 6 ,0 0 0 *litr e *p o o l*o v e r*o n c e *
per*day.*

As*a*guide,*low*speed*should*achieve*a*visible*skimming*of*the*surface*of*the*pool*through*your*skimmer*box.**When*
connected*to*an*AstralPool*compatible*salt*chlorinator,*Viron*Connect*Touch*Screen*Control*System,*we*recommend*that*
for*one*hour*a*day *the *filtratio n*pe riod *is*op era ted *on *at*lea st*m e dium*speed*to*achieve*full*circu latio n*a nd *go od *surfa ce *
skimmer*of*the*pool.**The*balance*of*the*filtration*cycle*can*then*be*set*on*low*speed.*

However,*should*your*pool*water*develop*clo ud iness *or*you r*po ol*surfac e*exh ibit*algae*g row th *you *m ay*ne ed *to*increa se*
the*low*speed*of*your*pu m p*to*en sure*ad eq uate*circu lation*o f*wate r*and*ch lorine*to *all*parts*of*your*p oo l.*
