Do you have a question about the VOKERA Mynute 10e and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Vokèra Mynute 10e-14e-20e is a central heating boiler designed to provide heated water to radiators and hot water cylinders. It incorporates advanced gas central heating technology, aiming for reliable use and efficiency. The boiler operates electronically and does not feature a pilot light. In the event of a fault, the gas supply to the burner is automatically terminated for safety.

Function Description

The primary function of the Mynute boiler is to heat water for central heating and domestic hot water systems. It is controlled by an integral time clock or programmer, or external thermostats, which regulate its operation based on demand for heat. When there is a demand for heating or hot water, the boiler initiates an ignition sequence, lighting the burner to heat the system water. Once the set temperature is reached, the burner will turn off for a minimum period, typically around 3 minutes, to maintain efficiency. The appliance automatically switches off when the heating request from the programmer/time clock or external thermostats is satisfied.

Usage Features

The Mynute boiler features a user-friendly control panel, concealed behind a front flap, which includes a mode switch, a variable thermostat, a system pressure gauge, and an aperture for an integral clock or programmer.

  • Mode Switch: This switch has three positions: 'Reset', 'Off', and 'On'. The 'On' position enables the boiler to operate according to the programmed settings. The 'Off' position completely shuts down the boiler. The 'Reset' position is used to clear fault conditions, indicated by an illuminated reset light. If the appliance fails to ignite during its sequence, a two-minute waiting period is recommended before attempting a reset. Frequent resetting may indicate a fault, requiring professional attention.

  • Variable Thermostat: This knob allows users to set the desired temperature for the water supplied to radiators and the hot water cylinder. The temperature range typically spans from 40°C (minimum) to 80°C (maximum). Turning the knob clockwise increases the temperature, while turning it anti-clockwise decreases it.

  • System Pressure Gauge: This gauge displays the current water pressure within the heating system. For safe and efficient operation, the pressure should ideally be maintained between 1 and 1.5 BAR when the boiler is off and cooled to room temperature. Slight fluctuations in pressure during operation are normal. If the pressure drops below 0.5 BAR, the boiler automatically shuts down.

  • Integral Clock/Programmer: Depending on the installer's specifications, the boiler may be fitted with an integral Vokèra mechanical or digital time clock, or a twin-channel programmer. These devices allow users to set specific 'on' and 'off' times for the boiler's operation, enabling scheduled heating and hot water provision.

    • Mechanical Clock: This clock features 96 black pins, each representing a 15-minute time period. Pushing a pin outwards sets the boiler to 'on' for that period, while pushing it inwards sets it to 'off'. The outer clock face can be rotated clockwise to align the correct time of day with a black pointer. A three-position selector switch overrides timed settings, allowing continuous 'on', timed operation, or continuous 'off'.

    • Digital Clock: This clock offers up to twenty different switching commands (ten 'on' and ten 'off') for various day groupings (e.g., every day, Monday to Saturday, specific days). Programming involves resetting the memory, setting the real time and day, and then entering desired 'on' and 'off' commands using 'Prog.', 'Day', 'h', 'm', and 'Select' buttons. A 'British Summertime' button allows for easy adjustment. The clock has a battery backup for power failures, retaining settings for approximately two weeks, with a charging time of 70 hours.

    • Twin Channel Programmer (7-day or 24-hour): This advanced programmer allows independent control of central heating (CH) and hot water (HW) systems. It offers options for 'Off all the time', 'Timed' (on/off at programmed periods), 'Once' (on for one period), or 'On all the time'. Users can set up to three 'on' and 'off' periods per day. The 7-day version allows for different timings on each day of the week, while the 24-hour version applies the same timings daily. The programmer includes a 'Holiday Setting' feature to temporarily switch off the system for a set number of days. An 'Advance' button allows temporary override of programmed switching times.

  • System Pressure Top-Up: If the system pressure falls below the recommended range, it can be topped up using external filling valve connections. A filling loop is attached to these connections, and water is slowly introduced until the pressure gauge reads between 1 and 1.5 BAR. The filling loop should then be removed.

  • Safety Features: The boiler is designed to automatically shut down in case of ignition failure or overheating, indicated by the reset light. It is crucial to ensure proper gas and electrical supply connections, including a double-pole isolator or un-switched socket, and a 3 AMP fuse. The appliance must be earthed.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is essential for the Mynute boiler's longevity and efficient operation.

  • Annual Servicing: It is a legal requirement for all gas appliances to be installed and maintained by a competent person in accordance with regulations. Annual servicing by a CORGI registered engineer (or Vokèra service engineer/agent) is strongly recommended to ensure continued safe and efficient operation. Homeowners can contact Vokèra Customer Services for this.

  • Appliance Log Book: An appliance log book is supplied with the boiler and must be completed during installation and commissioning. Failure to do so in accordance with manufacturer instructions may invalidate the warranty.

  • Cleaning: The outer casing of the appliance should be cleaned using only a clean, damp cloth. Abrasive cleaners or scourers should not be used to avoid damage.

  • Gas Leak Detection: In case of a suspected gas leak, the gas supply at the meter should be turned off immediately, and the installer or local gas supplier contacted.

  • Frequent System Top-Up: If the system frequently requires topping up, it may indicate a leak, which should be inspected by an installer.

  • Long-Term Shutdown: For extended periods of absence, especially during winter, it is advisable to thoroughly drain the system of all water and turn off the main gas, water, and electricity supplies to the house. More detailed advice can be obtained from the installer.
