The Von Duprin Chexit device is designed for accident hazard or fire exit applications. It meets both life
safety and security needs as well as all requirements of NFPA101 for “Special Locking Arrangement” and
UBC “Special Egress-Control Devices.”
The Von Duprin Chexit device sounds an alarm and keeps an exit door secured for 15 seconds following an
attempt to exit. The Chexit releases immediately upon a fire alarm condition.

Installation Steps

Prepare Device for Wiring

Remove end cap, bracket, and cover plate before wiring.

Drill Cable Hole and Route Wire

Drill a 5/8" hole and route the Chexit cable through the door.

Connect Power Transfer Wires

Connect device wires to power transfer door side wires.

Install Module into Cover Plate

Slide the Chexit module into the cover plate as shown.

Install Key Cylinder

Install the key cylinder if available, or proceed to step 6.

Route Cables and Make Connections

Route cables, connect pushpad, solenoid, and Chexit cables.

Position Connectors and Slide Module

Position connectors and slide module into mechanism case.

Install End Cap and Bracket

Install the end cap bracket and end cap, ensuring cable fits.

Install Door Sign

Remove backing from sign and place it on the door above the Chexit.

Proceed to Operation Testing
