The Wahl Manscaper™ Trimmer is a personal grooming device designed for body hair trimming, particularly for sensitive areas. It is engineered to be water-resistant and shower-proof, allowing for convenient use in the shower or at the sink, and easy cleaning under running water.
Function Description:
The Manscaper™ Trimmer is primarily used for trimming body hair. It features a close-cutting blade and an adjustable guide comb, offering various cutting lengths to achieve different grooming styles, from a close trim to longer lengths. The device is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery, making it cordless and portable. It includes a USB charging cable for convenient recharging. An electronic travel lock is integrated to prevent accidental activation during transport, enhancing safety and battery life.
Usage Features:
- Wet/Dry Use: The trimmer is designed for both wet and dry use. It can be safely used in the shower or at the sink. However, it should not be submerged to prevent water ingress into the electronics, as this would void the warranty. For safety, the trimmer will not operate while the charging cord is attached.
- Recharging: The trimmer is equipped with a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. It cannot be overcharged, allowing for frequent recharging without damage. Periodic recharging, rather than continuous, is recommended to prolong battery life. The device features LED indicators that display the charge level: four LEDs light up when fully charged, and the bottom LED flashes when the battery life is below 10%. It requires approximately 60 minutes of charging before the first use. The trimmer should only be charged using the supplied USB cable and a certified USB power source (e.g., computer, receptacle, lamp, class 2 power supply, or automotive adapter). It is designed not to operate while charging.
- Travel Lock: To prevent accidental activation, the trimmer includes an electronic travel lock. To engage the lock, the power button must be held down for 3 seconds; the trimmer will turn on for these 3 seconds before turning off and locking. To disengage, the power button is held down for 3 seconds again. Plugging in the power cord while the device is locked will also deactivate the travel lock.
- Trimming with Attachment Comb: The trimmer comes with an adjustable guide comb, which is ideal for blending, tapering, defining, and achieving a "close trim" stubble look. To attach the comb, it should be held with the teeth up and snapped firmly onto the bottom of the trimmer blade. For closer looks, the trimmer should be moved against the hair direction, while for blending, it should be moved with the hair direction. The guide has 19 cutting lengths, and it can be removed to provide a 20th cutting position. The trimming length is adjusted by turning a dial left or right.
- Manscaping Technique: For best results, it is recommended to start with clean, dry hair. A comb should be used to gently remove any snarls or tangles from the hair. The wrap-around guard dial should initially be set to its longest position, gradually shortening the length as desired. Trimming should be done gently in the direction of natural hair growth, avoiding cutting against the grain as much as possible. When trimming shorter lengths, the free hand should be used to pull the skin taut to prevent folds of skin from entering the trimmer blade. Light strokes are advised to avoid irritating sensitive skin. A fully charged Manscaper™ can run for up to 100 minutes, allowing ample time for careful grooming.
Maintenance Features:
- Blade Care and Cleaning: The trimmer features a Detachable Blade System for easy cleaning. To remove the blade, the top edge is pulled away from the body unit. To reattach, the back tab of the blade is aligned with the cavity on the inner edge of the trimmer unit, and the top of the blade is pushed down. The blades are precision-hardened, ground, and lapped, and are self-sharpening to maintain their shape and sharpness over extended periods. Blades should be handled carefully and not used to cut dirty or abrasive material. After use, any loose hairs should be whisked from the unit and blades using the included cleaning brush.
- Oiling Blades: For optimal performance, the blades should be oiled with Wahl Clipper Oil approximately once a month, or as necessary. To oil, the trimmer should be turned "ON - I," held with the blades facing DOWN, and three drops of oil squeezed across the front of the blade, with one drop on each side of the heel of the blade. Excess oil should be wiped off with a soft cloth. Over-oiling or applying other liquids can damage the motor. The motor bearings are permanently lubricated and do not require oiling.
- Storage: Before storing, the unit and blades should be cleaned of loose hairs. The trimmer should be stored in a manner that protects the blades from damage.
- Troubleshooting: If the trimmer stops operating unexpectedly, it can often be reset by plugging it into the USB cable. If it doesn't charge, users should check if the outlet is working, ensure the trimmer is properly connected to the power source with secure connections, and confirm the switch is "OFF - 0." If connected to a master power switch, the trimmer should be disconnected when the master switch is off to prevent battery drain. If the trimmer is fully charged but doesn't run, turning it "ON - I" and manually pinching or pushing the blades may help if dried oil has caused them to stick.
- Battery Replacement and Disposal: The Lithium-Ion battery is not user-replaceable. For battery replacement, the entire trimmer should be sent to Wahl (UK) Ltd Customer Services or a suitably qualified professional. The battery should only be replaced with an original manufacturer's spare. Lithium-Ion batteries can explode, catch fire, or cause burns if dismantled, damaged, or exposed to moisture or high temperatures. The product and its Lithium-Ion battery should not be disposed of in household waste. They should be returned to Wahl Customer Services for a take-back service or taken to a local collection facility for safe and appropriate recycling, in accordance with local legal regulations and the EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive 2012/19/EU (WEEE).
- USB Cable: Only the USB cable supplied by the manufacturer should be used. If the USB cable is damaged, it must be replaced by contacting WAHL customer services to avoid hazards.
