Problem Cause Solution
Winch jerks and shakes while in
operation.
Drive chain loose. Check chain tensioner and adjust.
Drive sprocket misaligned. PTO shaft too
long.
Check that PTO shaft is the correct length.
Front end of tractor comes off
ground when winching.
Tractor too light in front. Add front end weights.
Tractor slides backwards when
winching
Parking brake not applied. Apply parking brake.
Winch blade not fully lowered enough to
anchor firmly in the ground.
Lower the winch all way to the ground.
