Function Description

The Webb 1300W Electric 33cm Lawnmower is designed for domestic use in private gardens. Its primary function is to cut grass and maintain lawn areas. Usage Features

The lawnmower is designed for ease of use and includes several features to enhance operation and safety:

  • Handle Assembly: The handle can be assembled by inserting lower handles into the deck, securing them at the desired height using the adjustment button. The upper handle is then attached to the lower handles with provided knobs and bolts. The electric cable is routed along the outside of the handle and secured with clips.
  • Grassbox Collector: A 35L grassbox is included for collecting clippings. It features a full indicator that remains open when collecting grass and closes when full, signaling the need for emptying. The grassbox is secured to the machine by hooks housed onto the deck.
  • Starting the Machine: To start, the machine must be plugged into an electric supply. The cable should be fed through the cable restraint. The operator presses the safety button and pulls the trigger towards the main handle. The blade rotates immediately upon starting. The safety button can be released once the machine is operating.
  • Stopping the Motor: Releasing the trigger stops the motor. A warning is provided that the blade will continue to rotate for a short time after the trigger is released.
  • Cutting Height Adjustment: The lawnmower offers 5 height adjustments, ranging from 25mm to 65mm. The single height adjustment lever is located on the front axle, left wheel. To adjust, the lever is pushed towards the wheel and rotated up or down.
  • Mowing Tips:
    • For long grass, reduce walking speed and cut in stages, starting at a higher height and then lowering it.
    • Avoid cutting wet grass as it can stick to the deck and hinder collection.
    • New or thick grass may require a higher cutting height.
    • Empty the grassbox regularly to prevent blockages.
    • The mower is most effective when moving forwards.
    • Side combs allow cutting close to walls.
  • Overload Protection: The product has an overload protection device that automatically switches off the motor if overloaded. If actuated, the motor needs 5-10 minutes to cool down. After cooling, the plug should be removed, the blades checked for obstructions (wearing heavy-duty gloves), and then reconnected to restart.
  • Slope Operation: When cutting on slopes, ensure secure footing, that the grass is not wet, and operate across the slope, not up or down. The slope gradient should not exceed 15°.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for safety, efficiency, and extending the machine's life.

  • General Maintenance:
    • Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight.
    • Replace worn or damaged parts with genuine spare parts.
    • Keep the machine free of grass, leaves, or debris.
    • Allow the machine to cool before storing.
    • Frequently check grass catcher components for wear and replace as needed.
  • Blade Maintenance:
    • Always wear strong work gloves when handling the blade.
    • Disconnect the electric plug from the mains supply before any blade maintenance.
    • To remove the blade, block its rotation with a piece of wood, hold the blade with gardening gloves, and rotate the bolt anti-clockwise using a spanner wrench.
    • Dispose of old blades responsibly.
    • Attach a new blade, ensuring it is correctly positioned on the blade boss, and firmly tighten the bolt clockwise.
    • Check the blade's balance after sharpening.
  • Cleaning:
    • Always remove the electric plug from the mains supply before cleaning.
    • Clean the underside of the deck with a stiff brush after each cut to remove grass debris and mud.
    • Remove the belt casing (by removing screws) and clean around the transmission and drive belts with a brush or compressed air once or twice a year.
    • Do not use water on any part of the main machine.
    • Keep motor housing vents clear of grass clippings and dust to assist airflow and extend motor life.
  • Grassbox Collector Cleaning: Regularly hose off the grassbox and let it dry to prevent pores from filling with dirt and dust, which can reduce collection efficiency.
  • Storage:
    • Ensure the machine is clean and dry before storing.
    • Store away from direct sunlight, indoors, or in a safe, locked, protected area during severe weather and winter months.
    • For extended storage, inspect, clean, and repair the machine if necessary.
    • Store in a clean, dry, dust-free area.
    • Store in a position where no one can step on it or reach items up high, due to the risk of movement.
    • For compact storage, specific steps are provided in the manual (illustrated).

Safety Instructions

The manual emphasizes reading and understanding all safety instructions before operation to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. Key safety points include:

  • Mowing across slopes, not up and down.
  • Walking, not running, while using the mower.
  • Exercising extreme caution when pulling the mower backward.
  • Stopping blades if tilting for transport or when crossing non-grass surfaces.
  • Never operating with defective guards or without safety devices.
  • Keeping hands and feet clear of rotating parts and the discharge opening.
  • Stopping the motor and disconnecting the electrical plug before clearing blockages, checking, cleaning, or working on the lawnmower, after striking a foreign object, or if abnormal vibration occurs.
  • Waiting for the motor and blade to stop completely before removing the grass catcher.
  • Watching for holes, ruts, or bumps in tall grass.
  • Not mowing near drop-offs, ditches, or embankments.
  • Being alert and turning off the machine if children enter the area.
  • Never tampering with safety devices.
  • Never attempting to make wheel height adjustments while the motor is running.

The manual also includes a declaration of conformity, stating that the product complies with relevant EU directives for machinery, electromagnetic capability, and noise emission.
