Overview

The weBoost Drive Sleek OTR is a cell signal booster designed for trucks, aiming to improve cellular signal strength for a single device within the vehicle. This installation guide outlines the steps for setting up and using the booster, along with important safety guidelines, technical specifications, and warranty information.

Function Description:

The Drive Sleek OTR system works by capturing existing weak cellular signals outside the truck, amplifying them, and then rebroadcasting the stronger signal to a single cell phone placed in the included cradle. This process enhances voice quality, reduces dropped calls, and improves data speeds for the device in the cradle. The system consists of an outside antenna, a signal booster unit, a sleek cradle with a fixed booster cable, and a power supply. The outside antenna is designed for truck mounting, offering flexibility with various mounting points and extensions to achieve optimal height. The booster unit processes the signal, and the cradle provides a designated spot for the phone to receive the boosted signal.

Usage Features:

  • Mounting Flexibility: The outside antenna can be mounted on any CB mount or antenna mounting point. A 3-way mount is included for vehicles with mirror rails. It is recommended to mount the antenna above the metal cab for best performance, at least 12 inches from other antennas, and free of obstructions.
  • Antenna Assembly: The antenna assembly involves inserting the cable through the mast, and if mast extensions are needed, applying thread locker to the thread points. A side-exit adapter can be used, and thread locker should be applied to its thread point. Instructions are provided for assembling the antenna with or without mast extensions and an antenna spring.
  • Cable Routing: The outside antenna cable connects to a cable adapter, then to the booster port labeled "L ANTENNA." The booster unit can be mounted out of the way, such as under a seat or in the back of the cab, using the included Velcro®. The 15-foot fixed booster cable routes from the booster to the sleek cradle at the front of the vehicle.
  • Power Connection: The system connects to power via the 12V CLA port in the vehicle. The power cable should be routed along the same path as the cradle/booster cable. The booster is active when power is supplied to the 12V CLA port. Only 12V ports are supported.
  • Cradle Usage: The cell phone is inserted into the sleek cradle to receive the boosted signal. A magnetic mount is provided for versatile and safe smartphone placement on the dash.
  • Troubleshooting Indicators:
    • Solid White LED (on sleek cradle): Indicates the booster is functioning properly at maximum gain.
    • Light Off LED (on sleek cradle): Suggests checking power connections to the CLA, booster, and cradle. Removing and re-plugging the power cable can reset the system.
  • Dropped Calls: If experiencing dropped calls, users can try turning off VoLTE/HD Voice in their phone's settings.
  • FCC Compliance: The device is a CONSUMER device and requires registration with the user's wireless provider. It must be operated with approved antennas and cables, with antennas installed at least 20 cm (8 inches) from any person. Operation must cease if requested by the FCC or a licensed wireless service provider. E911 location information may be inaccurate when using the device.

Maintenance Features:

  • Automatic Gain Control: The signal booster is individually tested and factory set to ensure FCC compliance. It cannot be adjusted without factory reprogramming. It amplifies signals in authorized frequency bands only.
  • Idle Mode: If not in use for five minutes, the booster reduces gain until a signal is detected.
  • Oscillation Detection: If a signal is too high or an oscillation is detected in a frequency band, the booster automatically turns off power on that band. Normal operation resumes after a minimum of 1 minute. After five such automatic restarts, problematic bands are permanently shut off until the booster is manually restarted by momentarily removing power.
  • Microprocessor Control: Noise power, gain, and linearity are maintained by the booster's microprocessor.
  • Warranty: The weBoost Drive Sleek OTR comes with a two (2) year warranty against defects in workmanship and/or materials. Warranty cases can be resolved by returning the product to the reseller with a dated proof of purchase or directly to the manufacturer with a Returned Material Authorization (RMA) number. The warranty does not cover misuse, abuse, neglect, or mishandling. Replacement products may include refurbished weBoost products.
