SAFETY RULES
WARNING: When using electric
gardening appliance s, basic safety pre-
cautions shou ld always befollowed tore-
duce the risk of fire, electric shock, and
serious injury. Read and follow all
instructions.
SAFETY INFORMATION

This power unit can be dangerous! Opera-
tor is responsible for f oll owi ng the war nings
and instr uct ions in this manual and on the
uni t. Read entire inst ruction manu al bef ore
using unit! Be thoroughly familiar with the
control s and the proper use of the unit. Re-
strict the use of thi s unit t o persons who
read, understand, and follow unit and
manual w arni ng and instruct ions. Neveral-
low chil dr en t o operat e thi s uni t. Close
attent ion is necessary when used near
children.
DANGER: Never use blades orflail-
ing devices. Unit is designed for line trim-
mer us e only. Use of any other acces so-
ries or attachments will increase the risk
of injury.
WARNING: Trimmer line throws
objects violently. You and others can be
blinded/injured. Wear safety glasses,
boots, and leg protection. Keep body
parts clear of rotating line.

OPERATOR SAF ET Y
S Dress properly. Always wear safety
gl asses or similar eye protection when
operati ng or perfor mi ng maintenance on
your unit. (Safet y glasses are avail able. )
Alwa ys wear face or dust mask if opera-
tion is dusty. Alw ays wear heavy, long
pants, long sleeves, boots, and glo ve s.
Do not go baref oot or wear sandals.
S Secu re h air above shoulder length.
Secure or remove loose c lothing and
jewelry or clothing with loosely hanging
ties, straps, tassels, etc. They can be
caught in moving parts.
S Being fully covered also helps protect
you from debris and pieces of toxic
plants thrown by spinning line.
S Stay alert. Do not opera te unit when you
ar e ti red, ill , upset or under the inf luence
of alcohol, drugs, or medicati on. Wat ch
what you ar e doing; use comm on sense.
S Avoid unintentional starting of the unit.
Never c arry unit with your finger on the
switch. Be sure the switch is in
OFF
position and never touch the switch
when connecting extension cord.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
WARNING: Avoid a dangerous en-
vironment. To reduce the risk of electri-
cal shock , d o not use in rain, in damp or
wet locations, or around swimming
pools, hot tubs, etc. Do not expose to
snow, rain, or water to av oid the possibil-
ity of electrical shock.
S Use a voltage supply shown on unit.
S Av oid danger ous sit u atio ns. Do not use
in the presence of flammable liquids or
gases to avoid creati ng a fir e or explo-
sio n and/or causing damage to unit.
S To reduce t he risk of ele ct rical shock, t his
appliance has a polari zed plug (one
blade is wider than the other) and will re-
quir e the use of a polar i zed extension
cord. The appliance plug will fit into a po-
larized extensi on cor d only one way. If
the plug does not fi t f ully into the ext en-
sion cord, reverse the plug. If the plug sti l l
does not fi t , obtai n a correct polar i zed ex-
ten sion cord. A polarized exte nsion cor d
will require the use of a polarized wall
outle t. This plug will fi t into the polarized
wall outlet only one way. If plug does not
fit fully into the wall outlet, reverse the
plug. If the plug sti l l does not fi t , contact a
qualified electrician to install the proper
wal l o utlet. Do not change t h e equi p me n t
plug, extensi on cord receptacle, or ex-
tension cord plug in any way.
