 Adding of coolant
1) The coolant is mixed from softened clean water and an anticorrosive agent or
antifreeze. Ensure to strictly abide by the specification of the additive
manufacturer during mixing.
2) Before adding the coolant, ensure that the components of the coolant circuit
have cooled down and the engine has stopped. Slowly unscrew the coolant
filler plug to release pressure. Add coolant through the water filler port of the
radiator or heat exchanger and bleed the air from the cooling circulation
system, before reapplying the filler plug.
Preparations before Start
 Check the coolant level
Check the coolant level. If the coolant is
insufficient, add coolant. If the diesel engine
remains hot, do not over fill the coolant.
Dramatic temperature change could cause
damage to the engine parts. If there is no
coolant under special cases, it’s allowed to
slowly add cold water at a moderate
temperature. Add the coolant through the
filler port, until the coolant overflows. Start the
engine. While the engine is running
(1,000r/min), continue to add the coolant,
until the coolant level is stable, and finally install the filler port cap.
 Check the fuel level
Check the fuel level on the fuel tank.
 Check the engine oil level
The engine oil level shall be between upper and
lower markings on the oil dipstick. If necessary,
allow the engine circuit to cool down after the
engine has stopped then add engine oil through
the engine oil filler port and recheck.
 Inspect the engine for potential hazards.
Check all accessories of the diesel engine for reliable connections and resolve any
issues. Check the starter system for normal wiring and check to ensure that the
battery is sufficiently charged. If in doubt, contact your local Baudouin representative.
