Overview

The Weslo Cadence 340 CS is a treadmill designed for in-home cardiovascular exercise. It combines advanced technology with an innovative design, allowing users to enjoy workouts in the convenience and privacy of their homes. A key feature of this treadmill is its foldable design, which reduces its floor space by more than half when not in use, making it suitable for smaller living spaces.

Function Description:

The treadmill provides a platform for walking or running, allowing users to control speed and incline to vary exercise intensity. The console features a speed control knob, an accessory tray, and handrails for support. It includes a key/clip safety mechanism that stops the walking belt when removed. The console also displays various workout metrics such as calories burned, fat calories burned, speed (in miles per hour), and elapsed time. The treadmill is equipped with a PERFORMANT LUBE™ walking belt, which is coated with a high-performance lubricant to ensure smooth operation.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: WLTL29011
  • Weight Capacity: The treadmill should not be used by persons weighing more than 250 pounds.
  • Power Requirements: Designed for a nominal 120-volt AC circuit, requiring 15 or more amps. It is not compatible with GFCI-equipped outlets.
  • Surge Suppressor: Requires a UL 1449 listed transient voltage surge suppressor (TVSS) with a suppressed voltage rating of 400 volts or less and a minimum surge dissipation of 450 joules. The surge suppressor must be electrically rated for 120 volts AC and 15 amps. (Part number 146148 can be ordered).
  • Batteries: The console requires two "AA" alkaline batteries (not included).
  • Incline Levels: Four incline levels are available for varying exercise intensity.
  • Dimensions (Folded): Reduces floor space by more than half when folded.
  • Lift Capacity for Folding/Moving: Users must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.

Usage Features:

  • Step-by-Step Console Operation:
    1. Insert Key: The key must be fully inserted into the power switch. Displays turn on when the ON/RESET button is pressed or the walking belt starts.
    2. Reset Speed and Start Walking Belt: Turn the speed control to the RESET position. Slowly turn the speed control until the walking belt begins to move, then carefully step onto the belt.
    3. Monitor Modes: The console scans through five modes: Calories (CALS), Fat Calories (F CALS), Speed, and Time. Flashing mode indicators show the currently displayed mode.
    4. Stopping Exercise: Step onto the foot rails, stop the walking belt, and remove the key. Displays turn off automatically after about six minutes of inactivity to conserve batteries.
  • Safety Clip: Always wear the clip attached to the key while operating the treadmill. Removing the key stops the walking belt.
  • Speed Adjustment: Adjust speed in small increments to avoid sudden jumps.
  • Incline Adjustment: The incline can be changed to four different levels by adjusting the incline pins on the incline legs. This requires removing the key, unplugging the power cord, and folding the treadmill to the storage position before adjustment. Both incline pins must be fully inserted at the same height.
  • Handrail Height Adjustment: Handrails can be adjusted to two different heights (for users shorter or taller than 5'8"). This involves removing the console, handrail bolts, and spacers, then reattaching them at the desired height.
  • Folding and Moving:
    • Folding: Unplug the power cord. Hold the treadmill with both hands, bend legs, and lift with legs (not back) to raise it to a vertical position. Press the storage latch with your left thumb, pivot the treadmill until the frame and foot rail clear the latch, then close the latch over the catch.
    • Moving: Remove weights from racks. Hold the upper ends of the handrails, place one foot on a wheel, and tilt the treadmill back until it rolls freely. Move carefully over even surfaces.
    • Lowering: Hold the upper end of the treadmill, press the storage latch, pivot the treadmill until the frame and foot rail clear the latch, then firmly lower the treadmill to the floor with bent legs.
  • Workout Guidelines:
    • Warm-up: 5-10 minutes of stretching and light exercise.
    • Training Zone Exercise: 20-60 minutes at an intensity that keeps pulse in the training zone (refer to the Heart Rate Training Zones chart in the manual for age-specific BPM ranges for fat burn and aerobic exercise).
    • Cool-down: 5-10 minutes of stretching.
    • Exercise Frequency: Three workouts per week with at least one rest day between workouts; up to five workouts per week after a few months.
  • Hand Weights: The treadmill includes 1-lb, 2-lb, and 3-lb hand weights for upper body exercise during walking speeds. Users are cautioned that using weights without holding handrails may compromise balance and should only be attempted by experienced users.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Inspect and tighten all parts of the treadmill every three months.
  • Cleaning: Unplug the power cord before cleaning. Do not remove the motor hood unless instructed by an authorized service representative. Keep the console dry and avoid spilling liquids.
  • Troubleshooting:
    • Power Does Not Turn On: Check power cord connection to a surge suppressor and grounded outlet, ensure key is fully inserted, and check/reset the circuit breaker on the treadmill frame.
    • Power Turns Off During Use: Check/reset the circuit breaker, ensure power cord is plugged in, and reinsert the key.
    • Displays Not Functioning: Check and replace console batteries if needed.
    • Walking Belt Slows When Walked On: Ensure a proper surge suppressor is used. If the belt is overtightened, remove the key, unplug the power cord, and turn both rear roller bolts counterclockwise 1/4 turn. The belt should lift 2-3 inches off the platform when properly tightened.
    • Walking Belt Off-Center or Slips:
      • Off-Center (Left/Right): Remove key, unplug power cord. Turn the left rear roller bolt clockwise 1/2 turn if shifted left, or counterclockwise 1/2 turn if shifted right.
      • Slips: Remove key, unplug power cord. Turn both rear roller bolts clockwise 1/4 turn. The belt should lift 3-4 inches off the platform when properly tightened.
  • Lubrication: The walking belt is pre-lubricated with PERFORMANT LUBE™. Do not apply silicone spray or other substances, as this will deteriorate the belt and cause excessive wear.
  • Part Ordering: Replacement parts can be ordered by calling customer service with the model number (WLTL29011), product name (WESLO CADENCE® 340 CS treadmill), serial number, and key number/description of the desired part(s).
