Why is my Westinghouse Ventilation Hood not venting properly?
    • A
      Andrea MooreAug 5, 2025
Several factors can cause improper venting. Ensure no birds or animals have nested in the duct. Verify the distance between the cooktop and the hood's bottom is between 458 mm (18 in) and 710 mm (28 in). Confirm the ductwork meets all requirements, using round metal ducts with a uniform diameter of 177 mm (7 in), not exceeding 35 ft (10.7 m) in length, and properly connected, sealed, and taped joints. Also, make sure the duct doesn't open against the wind. Use high speed for heavy cooking. Close nearby windows to prevent air gusts and slightly open a window on the house's opposite side from where the hood vents.

What to do if my Westinghouse Ventilation Hood light does not work?
    • K
      Kathy HorneAug 10, 2025
First, check if the light bulb is burnt and replace it if needed. Then, check if the light bulb is loose and tighten it. If the issue persists, remove the bulb and insert one that you know is working. If the functioning light doesn't come on, the light assembly may be the problem and require service or replacement.

Why is my Westinghouse Ventilation Hood fan weak?
    • M
      Matthew LewisAug 15, 2025
A weak fan could be due to several reasons. Check that the duct size used is at least 177 mm (7 in) round, as insufficient duct size reduces efficiency. Ensure the duct isn't clogged and that the wall cap's mesh isn't restricting airflow. Verify the damper unit is opening correctly and that no birds or animals have nested in the duct.

How to fix a vibrating Westinghouse Ventilation Hood?
    • W
      wallscrystalAug 20, 2025
To stop the range hood from vibrating, check that it has been secured properly to the wall and tighten it if necessary. Also, check that the motor is secured in place and tighten it if it is not. Finally, check that the fan is not damaged and replace it if necessary.

What to do if Westinghouse Ventilation Hood fan is not spinning?
    • K
      Kevin WatkinsAug 26, 2025
If the fan isn't spinning, the thermal protection system may have shut the motor down because it was too hot. In this case, the motor will function properly after the thermal protection system cools down (after approximately 10 min). You can also check that the fan isn’t jammed or scraping the bottom. If none of these steps work, the motor may be defective or seized, and you may need to replace it.

Why my Westinghouse Ventilation Hood will not operate?
    • H
      henrychanAug 30, 2025
If the range hood isn't operating, first check that the power supply cable and all electrical wiring are properly connected. Next, verify that the power is turned on at the junction box or circuit breaker. Finally, check that the wiring between the switch control and the control board is connected properly.
