This document provides comprehensive instructions for the AMW 730 microwave oven, covering its safe use, installation, recommended cooking practices, panel description, accessories, and maintenance.
Function Description
The AMW 730 is a built-in microwave oven designed for domestic use, primarily for heating and cooking food. It offers various cooking functions, including:
- Cook & Reheat with Microwaves: This function is for normal cooking and reheating of foods like vegetables, fish, potatoes, and meat. It allows for setting specific microwave power levels (from 90W for softening ice cream to 1000W for reheating beverages) and cooking times.
- Jet Start: This function quickly reheats foods with high water content, such as clear soup, coffee, or tea, at full microwave power (1000W) with a default 30-second cooking time, which can be increased in 30-second increments.
- Manual Defrost: This allows for manual defrosting of various frozen foods by setting the microwave power to 160W.
- Jet Defrost: This specialized function is for defrosting meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, and bread, with an automatic calculation of defrosting time based on the net weight (between 100g and 2.5kg). The oven prompts the user to turn the food midway through the process.
- Grill: This function is used to quickly brown the surface of food placed on the wire rack.
- Grill Combi: This combines microwave and grill functions for cooking dishes like lasagna, fish, and potato gratin, allowing for setting microwave power levels (from 0W for browning only to 650W for vegetables and gratins).
- 6th Sense Reheat: This intelligent function reheats ready-made food (frozen, chilled, or room temperature) by automatically adjusting settings based on the selected food class (dinner plate, frozen portion, frozen lasagna, soup, beverage) and weight. It recommends covering food, except for chilled soups, and stirring during the process.
- 6th Sense Cook: This function is for cooking specific food categories (baked potatoes, fresh vegetables, frozen vegetables, canned vegetables, popcorn) by automatically adjusting settings based on the selected food class and weight. It provides guidance on preparation, such as pricking potatoes and covering vegetables.
- 6th Sense Crisp: This function is specifically for crisping foods like pizzas, French fries, buffalo wings, chicken nuggets, and fish fingers. It uses a combination of microwaves and grill to heat the crisp plate, ensuring browning and crisping.
Usage Features
The appliance is designed for ease of use with a clear control panel featuring function symbols, STOP/PAUSE, ON/OFF, POWER, START buttons, and an ADJUST knob. A digital display shows settings and time.
- Setting the Clock: The clock needs to be set when the appliance is first plugged in or after a power failure. This involves pressing the CLOCK button, turning the ADJUST knob for hours and minutes, and pressing the knob to confirm.
- Key Lock / Safety Lock: This feature prevents accidental operation. It is activated by pressing and holding the BACK button for approximately 5 seconds until a key symbol appears. To unlock, the BACK button is pressed and held again. The door must be opened and closed to release the safety lock.
- Standby Mode: The oven enters Standby mode after pressing the STOP button or if there's no interaction for a certain period. The dimmed 24-hour clock is displayed, and any button press or turning the rotary knob exits this mode.
- Pause and Continue Cooking: Cooking can be paused by opening the door to check, turn, or stir food. The settings are maintained for 10 minutes. To resume, the door is closed, and the START button is pressed once. Pressing the START button twice adds 30 seconds to the cooking time.
- Cooling Down: After a function is finished, the oven may perform a cooling process, indicated by "Cool On" on the display. This process can be interrupted by opening the door.
- Food Preparation: The manual provides detailed tips for preparing food for microwave cooking, including arranging pieces in a circle, cutting food into equal sizes, using microwave-proof covers to reduce moisture loss, and allowing standing time after cooking.
- Stirring and Turning Food: For certain 6th Sense functions, the oven may prompt the user to stir or turn food for even cooking. The oven will continue automatically after a short period if the food is not turned, though the cooking time will be longer.
- Accessory Use: The appliance comes with a glass turntable, turntable support, wire rack, crisp handle, and crisp plate. Specific instructions are given for using each accessory with different cooking functions. For instance, the glass turntable is used with all methods, the wire rack with Grill or Grill Combi, and the crisp plate with the Crisp function.
Maintenance Features
Regular cleaning is the primary maintenance required for the AMW 730.
- General Cleaning: The interior surfaces, front and rear of the door, and door opening should be cleaned with a mild detergent, water, and a soft cloth. Stubborn stains can be softened by boiling a cup of water in the oven for 2-3 minutes. Lemon juice can be added to eliminate odors.
- Turntable and Support: These should be removed and wiped clean regularly, especially after spills. The turntable and its support are dishwasher-safe.
- Crisp Plate: The crisp plate should be cleaned in water with a mild detergent. Heavily soiled areas can be cleaned with a scouring sponge and a mild cleanser. It's crucial to let the crisp plate cool before cleaning and not immerse or rinse it while hot to prevent damage.
- Grill Element: The grill element is self-cleaning due to intense heat, but the ceiling above it may need regular cleaning with warm water, detergent, and a sponge. Running the grill for 10 minutes a month is recommended if not used regularly.
- Prohibited Cleaning Methods: The manual explicitly warns against using metal scouring pads, abrasive cleansers, steel-wool pads, rough cloths, corrosive chemicals, or steam cleaning appliances, as these can damage the oven's surfaces and components.
- Door Seals: The door seals and door seal areas must be regularly inspected for damage. If damaged, the appliance should not be operated until repaired by an authorized service technician.
The manual emphasizes the importance of safety warnings, proper installation by qualified technicians, and adherence to local safety regulations. It also highlights the appliance's design for household use and its recyclability, with instructions for responsible disposal of packaging and the product itself.
