Quick Start Guide
Please take a moment to review these valuable tips before
using your new Cabrio TM washer. You have made an exciting
and rewarding investment, and we want to ensure your
complete satisfaction.
If you have any questions regarding the installation or use of
your washer, please refer to the Use and Care Guide. In the U.S.,
call a Whirlpool ® fabric care expert at 1-800-253-1301; in
Canada, call 1-800-807-6777.
Electrical Shock Hazard
Plug into a grounded 3 prong outlet.
Do not remove ground prong.
Do not use an adapter.
Do not use an extension cord.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in
death, fire, or electrical shock.
Fire Hazard
Never place items in the washer that are dampened
with gasoline or other flammable fluids.
No washer can completely remove oil.
Do not dry anything that has ever had any type of oil
on it (including cooking oils).
Doing so can result in death, explosion, or fire.

Getting Started in 5 Easy Steps:
Load the Washer:
Raise the lid and place a load of sorted clothes in the washer. Load evenly to maintain washer balance and
do not load above the stainless steel basket. Overloading car/cause pool cleaning since items need to move
easily through the wash water.
Fill the Additive Dispensers: _%_
Pour measured powdered or liquid High Efficiency detergent into the detergent dispenser (1).
Use only High Efficiency (HE) detergents. Do not put detergent directly onto clothes. Then add color-safe or
chlorine bleach (liquid ol powdered) and measured liquid fabric softener into the malked dispensels (2 &
3). You can fill all dispensers pilot to staring the wash cycle. The Cabrio r" washer dilutes and releases them
automatically at the proper time during the cycle.
Select the Wash Cycle:
Press POWER to turn on the electronic display and select a wash cycle using the center dial. Modifiers and
options are already preset for optimal wash performance but may be adjusted prior to starting the cycle (in
most cases). For a complete description of options and modifiers, please see the other side of this Quick Start
Guide.
Begin the Wash Cycle:
Press START.The lid will lock, and the wash cycle will begin. The display will show the estimated time
remaining.
NOTE: If you do not press STARTwithin 5 minutes of pressing POWER, the washer will automatically shut off.
Add-A-Garment, if needed:
You can place additional clothing in the washer when the "Add a garment" status light is glowing. Pless
PAUSE/CANCEL once and wait for the Lid Lock light to turn off. Open the lid and add items. To restart the
washer, close the washer lid and press START.

Wash Cycles Guide

Whitest Whites

Uses liquid chlorine bleach for improved whitening of heavily soiled white fabrics. Maximum soil and stain removal.

Heavy Duty

For heavily soiled or sturdy items. Deep Clean is the default option for this cycle.

Bulky Items

For large items like comforters and sleeping bags. Starts with a soak to saturate loads.

Sheets/Towels

For sheets, pillowcases, and towels. Designed to help large items from tangling.

Normal

For normally soiled cottons and mixed fabric loads.

Casual/Perm Press

For no-iron fabrics like sport shirts and blouses. Uses low-speed spin to reduce wrinkling.

Colors/Darks

For lightly soiled, dark, or highly dyed natural fabrics. Cold or warm water recommended.

Quick Wash

For small, lightly soiled loads needed quickly. Combines high-speed wash action and spin.

Wool

Cleans items labeled 'Machine Washable Wool'. Uses low-speed wash and spin action.

Delicate/Handwash

For lightly soiled garments indicating 'Machine Washable Silks' or 'Gentle'. Uses gentle fabric care.

Clean Washer Cycle

Monthly cycle to keep washer fresh. Uses higher water level and liquid chlorine bleach.

Cycle Modifiers and Options

Soil Level

Adjusts wash time based on soil level. Pressing the pad increases or decreases cycle time.

Spin Speed

Automatically selects spin speed based on cycle. Presets can be changed.

Wash-Rinse Temp

Select water temperature based on fabric type. Follow garment label instructions.

Delay Wash

Allows delaying the start of a wash cycle for up to 10 hours.

Deep Clean Option

Provides enhanced cleaning action for tough stains. Adds approximately 5 minutes to a cycle.

Extra Rinse Option

Provides an additional rinse to aid in removing detergent or bleach residue.

Presoak Option

Use for set-in stains and soils needing extra time for removal. Extends wash cycle.

End of Cycle Signal Volume

Produces an audible sound when the wash cycle is finished. Can be set to Loud, Soft, or Off.
