Why is my Whirlpool TOP-LOADING not draining or spinning?
    • A
      Amy DiazAug 25, 2025
The washer might be tightly packed or unbalanced. To fix this, empty pockets and use garment bags for small items. Also, select a cycle with a low spin speed. You can also select the Drain & Spin cycle. Check the plumbing to ensure the drain hose is installed correctly and is free of clogs. Make sure you are following detergent directions for your load. To remove extra suds, select Rinse & Spin.

What to do if the lid locked light is flashing on my Whirlpool TOP-LOADING?
    • H
      hayescynthiaAug 26, 2025
Ensure that the lid is fully closed, as the washer won't start or fill if the lid is open. If you've recently paused or stopped a cycle using the Start/Pause button, the washer may still be spinning. The lid will unlock once the basket has completely stopped spinning, which might take several minutes, especially with large loads or heavy fabrics.

How to fix vibration or off-balance in my Whirlpool Washer?
    • C
      Chelsey RodriguezAug 27, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer is vibrating or off-balance, it could be due to several reasons. First, ensure that the front and rear feet are firmly in contact with the floor and that the washer is level. If the flooring is uneven, placing a 3/4" (19 mm) piece of plywood underneath can help. Also, unbalanced loads can cause this issue. Load dry items in loose heaps evenly around the basket wall, and avoid adding wet items or too much water. Wash smaller loads, avoid tightly packing, and don't wash single items. For oversized items like comforters, use the Normal cycle with an Extra Large or Large load size.

What to do if my Whirlpool Washer is leaking water?
    • T
      troy58Aug 27, 2025
If you notice water leaks from your Whirlpool Washer, first check if the washer is level, as this can cause water to splash off the basket. Also, ensure that the fill hoses are tightly connected. Verify that all four fill hose flat washers are properly seated. Inspect the drain hose connection, ensuring it is properly secured to the drainpipe or laundry tub, and do not place tape over the drain opening. Check your household plumbing for leaks or clogs in the sink or drain, including laundry tubs, drain pipes, water pipes, and faucets. Finally, ensure the washer is loaded as recommended, as improper loading can cause the basket to misalign and water to splash.

Why does my Whirlpool TOP-LOADING Washer have odors?
    • R
      Robert HurleySep 22, 2025
Odors in your Whirlpool Washer can occur if monthly maintenance is not performed. Make sure to unload the washer as soon as the cycle is complete. Also, ensure you are measuring detergent correctly and following the manufacturer’s directions, as using too much detergent can contribute to odors.

Why are the wash or rinse temperatures incorrect on my Whirlpool Washer?
    • S
      sandy90Sep 18, 2025
If you are experiencing incorrect or wrong wash or rinse temperatures with your Whirlpool Washer, ensure that the hot and cold inlet hoses are not reversed. Both hoses must be attached to both the washer and faucet, allowing both hot and cold water to flow to the inlet valve. Check that the inlet valve screens are not clogged and remove any kinks in the hoses. Keep in mind that this washer uses cooler wash and rinse water temperatures than previous models, including cooler hot and warm washes.

Why are there dry spots on my load after a Whirlpool Washer cycle?
    • T
      Tyler WeberSep 7, 2025
If you find dry spots on your load after a cycle in your Whirlpool Washer, it's because the high spin speeds combined with air flow during the final spin can cause items near the top of the load to develop dry spots.

Why is my Whirlpool TOP-LOADING making so much noise?
    • R
      rowlandchristineSep 4, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer is making unusual noises, it could be due to several reasons. Check for objects caught in the washer drain system by emptying pockets before washing, as loose items like coins can fall between the basket and tub or block the pump (you might need to call for service to remove them). It's normal to hear metal items on clothing, such as snaps, buckles, or zippers, touching the basket. The pump may also make a continuous humming sound with periodic gurgling during the Drain & Spin cycles, which is normal. Additionally, you may hear the hum of sensing spins after starting the washer, which is also normal.

Why is my Whirlpool TOP-LOADING load not rinsing properly?
    • L
      lmorrisSep 6, 2025
If your Whirlpool Washer load is not rinsed properly, ensure that the hot and cold inlet hoses are not reversed and that both hoses are attached with water flowing to the inlet valve. Both hot and cold water faucets must be on. Check if the inlet valve screens on the washer are clogged and remove any kinks in the inlet hose. Using too much detergent can also prevent proper rinsing, so always measure detergent and follow directions based on load size and soil level. The washer is less efficient at rinsing when the load is tightly packed, so load garments in loose heaps evenly around the basket wall. Choose a load size (water level) that matches the load being washed.
