FILLING THE SALT RESERVOIR
The use of salt prevents the formation of LIMESCALE on the dishes and on
the machine’s functional components.
It is mandatory that the salt reservoir never be empty.
It is important to set the water hardness.
The salt reservoir is located in the lower part of the dishwasher and must be
lled when the SALT REFILL indicator light in the control panel is lit.
1. Remove the lower rack and unscrew the reservoir cap
(anticlockwise).
2. Position the funnel (see gure) and ll the salt reservoir
right up to its edge (approximately 1 kg); it is not unu-
sual for a little water to leak out.
3. Only the rst time you do this: ll the salt reservoir
with water.
4. Remove the funnel and wipe any salt residue away from the opening.
Make sure the cap is screwed on tightly, so that no detergent can get into
the container during the wash program (this could damage the water
softener beyond repair).
Whenever you need to add salt, it is mandatory to complete the proce-
dure before the beginning of the washing cycle to avoid corrosion.
FILLING THE RINSE AID DISPENSER
Rinse aid makes dish DRYING easier. The rinse aid
dispenser A should be lled when the RINSE AID
REFILL indicator light in the control panel is lit.
NEVER pour the rinse aid directly into the
appliance tub.
FILLING THE DETERGENT DISPENSER
To open the detergent dispenser use the opening device C. Introduce the
detergent into the dry dispenser D only. Place the amount of detergent for
pre-washing directly inside the tub.
If all-in-one detergents are used, we recommend using the TABLET button,
because it adjusts the program so that the best washing and drying results
are always achieved.
Usage of detergent not designed for dishwashers may cause
malfunction or damage to the appliance.
WATER SOFTENING SYSTEM
Water softener automatically reduces water hardness, consequently pre-
venting scale buildup on heater, contributing also to better cleaning e-
ciency. This system regenerates itself with salt, therefore it is required
to rell salt container when empty.
Frequency of regeneration depends on water hardness level setting - regen-
eration takes place once per 6 Eco cycles with water hardness level set to 3.
Regeneration process starts in nal rinse and nishes in drying phase, be-
fore cycle ends.
Single regeneration consumes: ~3.5L of water;
Takes up to 5 additional minutes for the cycle;
Consumes below 0.005kWh of energy.

Overview

This document provides a comprehensive guide for the Whirlpool dishwasher, covering its functions, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Control Panel and Programs

The dishwasher features an intuitive control panel with several buttons and indicator lights. The "On-Off/Reset" button (1) powers the appliance and can reset cycles. The "Program Selection" button (2) allows users to choose from various wash programs, each indicated by a dedicated light. The "Half Load" button (3) is for smaller loads, saving water, electricity, and detergent, and also doubles as a "Keylock" function when pressed for 3 seconds. The "Eco Program" indicator light (4) illuminates when the energy-efficient Eco program is selected. The "Keylock" indicator light (5) confirms when the keylock function is active. A "Display" (6) shows the "Program Number" and "Remaining Time" (7) for the current cycle. The "Tablet (Tab)" indicator light (8) signifies when the tablet detergent option is active. Other indicators include "Closed Water Tap" (9) for water supply issues, "Rinse Aid Refill" (10) and "Salt Refill" (11) to prompt replenishment, and "Delay" (12) for setting a delayed start. The "Tablet (Tab)" button (13) activates the tablet detergent option, and the "Start/Pause" button (14) initiates or pauses a cycle, also functioning as a "Drain Out" button when pressed for 3 seconds.

The dishwasher offers nine distinct wash programs tailored for different needs:

  1. Eco 50°: This is the most efficient program for normally soiled tableware in terms of combined energy and water consumption. It's designed to comply with EU Ecodesign legislation. It has a duration of 3 hours and 35 minutes, consuming 9.5 liters of water and 0.95 kWh of energy. The drying phase is active, and it supports the Half Load option.

  2. Intensive 65°: Recommended for heavily soiled crockery, especially pans and saucepans (not for delicate items). This program runs for 2 hours and 40 minutes, using 18.0 liters of water and 1.60 kWh of energy. It includes a drying phase and supports the Half Load option.

  3. 6th Sense® 55°: For normally soiled dishes with dried food residues. This intelligent program senses the level of soiling and adjusts the cycle duration accordingly. An animation appears on the display as the sensor detects soil levels. The duration ranges from 2 hours 10 minutes to 2 hours 20 minutes, consuming 15.5-16.5 liters of water and 1.30-1.50 kWh of energy. It includes a drying phase and supports the Half Load option.

  4. Fast Wash&Dry 50°: For normally soiled crockery, this everyday cycle ensures optimal cleaning and drying performance in a shorter time. It lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes, using 11.5 liters of water and 1.30 kWh of energy. It includes a drying phase and supports the Half Load option.

  5. Rapid 28' 50°: Designed for half loads of lightly soiled dishes with no dried food residues. This program does not include a drying phase. It completes in 28 minutes, consuming 9.0 liters of water and 0.50 kWh of energy.

  6. Silent 50°: Suitable for night-time operation, this program ensures optimal cleaning and drying performance with the lowest noise emission. It runs for 3 hours and 35 minutes, using 16.6 liters of water and 1.30 kWh of energy. It includes a drying phase and supports the Half Load option.

  7. Sanitizing 65°: For normally or heavily soiled crockery, with an additional antibacterial wash. This cycle can also be used for dishwasher maintenance. It lasts 2 hours, consuming 12.0 liters of water and 1.50 kWh of energy. It does not have a drying phase.

  8. Pre-Wash: Used to refresh crockery planned to be washed later. No detergent is required for this program. It runs for 12 minutes, using 4.7 liters of water and 0.01 kWh of energy. It does not have a drying phase and supports the Half Load option.

  9. Self-Clean 65°: This program is specifically for dishwasher maintenance and should only be carried out when the dishwasher is empty, using specific detergents designed for dishwasher maintenance. It lasts 50 minutes, consuming 10.0 liters of water and 0.80 kWh of energy. It does not have a drying phase.

First Time Use and Essential Features

Before first use, it's crucial to fill the salt reservoir and the rinse aid dispenser.

Filling the Salt Reservoir: The salt reservoir is located in the lower part of the dishwasher. It must be filled when the "SALT REFILL" indicator light (11) illuminates. Salt prevents limescale formation on dishes and internal components. To fill, remove the lower rack, unscrew the reservoir cap, and use the provided funnel to fill with approximately 1 kg of salt. For the very first use, also fill the reservoir with water. Ensure the cap is screwed on tightly to prevent detergent from entering, which could damage the water softener. Always complete this procedure before starting a wash cycle to avoid corrosion.

Water Softening System: The dishwasher features a water softening system that automatically reduces water hardness, preventing scale buildup on the heater and improving cleaning efficiency. This system regenerates itself using salt, so refilling the salt container when empty is essential. Regeneration occurs once per 6 Eco cycles when the water hardness level is set to 3. This process starts during the final rinse and finishes in the drying phase. A single regeneration consumes approximately 3.5 liters of water, adds up to 5 minutes to the cycle, and consumes less than 0.005 kWh of energy.

Filling the Rinse Aid Dispenser: The rinse aid dispenser (A) should be filled when the "RINSE AID REFILL" indicator light (10) is lit. Rinse aid facilitates dish drying. Never pour rinse aid directly into the appliance tub.

Filling the Detergent Dispenser: To open the detergent dispenser, use the opening device (C). Introduce detergent into the dry dispenser (D) only. For pre-washing, place detergent directly inside the tub. If using all-in-one detergents, activate the "TABLET" button (13) to optimize washing and drying results. Using detergent not designed for dishwashers can cause malfunctions or damage.

Options and Functions:

Several options can be selected directly from the control panel:

  • Half Load (1/2): For smaller loads, this option saves water, electricity, and detergent. Remember to halve the detergent amount.
  • Keylock: A long press (3 seconds) of the "Half Load" button activates the keylock function, preventing accidental program changes. Press again for 3 seconds to deactivate.
  • Water Tap Closed Alarm: This indicator (9) flashes when there is no inlet water or the water tap is closed.
  • Delay: The start of the program can be delayed from 0:30 to 24 hours. This function cannot be set once a wash cycle has been started.
  • Tablet (Tab): If using powder or liquid detergent, this option (13) should be off.
  • Drain Out: To stop and cancel an active cycle, press the "Start/Pause" button (14) for 3 seconds. This drains the water from the dishwasher.

Loading the Racks:

The dishwasher is designed to accommodate 14 standard place-settings.

  • Upper Rack: Ideal for delicate and light dishes such as glasses, cups, saucers, and small salad bowls. It features foldable flaps with adjustable positions for versatile loading.
  • Lower Rack: Suitable for pots, lids, plates, salad bowls, and cutlery. Large plates and lids should be placed at the sides to avoid interfering with the spray arm.
  • Cutlery Basket: Equipped with top grilles for improved cutlery arrangement. It should be positioned only at the front of the lower rack. Knives and other sharp utensils must be placed with points facing downwards or horizontally in the tip-up compartments of the upper rack.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

Regular cleaning and maintenance are essential for optimal performance.

  • Cleaning the Filter Assembly: The filter assembly is crucial for preventing food particles from recirculating. It consists of multiple parts (1, 2, 3, 4). If foreign objects like broken glass, porcelain, bones, or fruit seeds are found, remove them carefully. Never remove the wash-cycle pump protection (black detail) (Fig 4).
  • Cleaning the Spray Arms: The spray arms ensure water distribution. To remove the upper spray arm, turn the plastic locking ring clockwise. The lower spray arm can be removed by pulling it upwards.

Technical Specifications and Support:

ECO program data is measured under laboratory conditions according to European Standard EN 60436:2020. Pre-treatment of dishes is not needed for any program. Values for programs other than Eco are indicative and may vary based on factors like water temperature and pressure, room temperature, detergent amount, load quantity and type, load balancing, selected options, and sensor calibration. Sensor calibration can increase program duration by up to 20 minutes.
