IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: When using the dishwasher, follow basic precautions, including the following:
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Read all instructions before using the dishwasher.
Use the dishwasher only for its intended function.
Use only detergents or rinse agents recommended for use in a
dishwasher, and keep them out of the reach of children.
When loading items to be washed:
1) Locate sharp items so that they are not likely to damage the
door seal; and
2) Load sharp knives with the handles up to reduce the risk of
cut-type injuries.
Do not wash plastic items unless they are marked
“dishwasher safe” or the equivalent. For plastic items not so
marked, check the manufacturer's recommendations.
Do not touch the heating element during or immediately after
use.
Do not operate the dishwasher unless all enclosure panels are
properly in place.
Do not tamper with controls.
Do not abuse, sit on, or stand on the door, lid, or dish racks of
the dishwasher.
To reduce the risk of injury, do not allow children to play in or
on the dishwasher.
Under certain conditions, hydrogen gas may be produced in a
hot water system that has not been used for two weeks or
more. HYDROGEN GAS IS EXPLOSIVE. If the hot water system
has not been used for such a period, before using the
dishwasher turn on all hot water faucets and let the water flow
from each for several minutes. This will release any
accumulated hydrogen gas. As the gas is flammable, do not
smoke or use an open flame during this time.
Remove the door or lid to the washing compartment
when removing an old dishwasher from service or
discarding it.

Why does my Whirlpool Dishwasher stop mid cycle?
    • J
      John MannJul 28, 2025
Several factors could cause your Whirlpool Dishwasher to stop mid-cycle or not start at all. Some cycles will pause briefly during the main wash which is normal. Make sure the door is fully closed and latched, and that you've selected the correct cycle. Check your home's fuse box or circuit breaker, replacing the fuse or resetting the breaker if needed. Ensure the water shut-off valve (if installed) is turned on. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the motor may have stopped due to overload, and it should reset itself in a few minutes. If it still doesn't restart, consider calling a service technician.

How to improve cleaning performance of Whirlpool WDF560SAFM Dishwasher?
    • L
      lopezericAug 1, 2025
If your Whirlpool Dishwasher isn't cleaning dishes completely, several factors could be the cause. Ensure that you are loading the dishwasher correctly. Check the filter to be sure it is properly installed and clean it if necessary. Select the appropriate cycle for the soil level of your dishes, such as the Sensor Wash or Heavy Wash cycle for tougher loads. Verify that the incoming water temperature is at least 120°F (49°C). Use the correct amount of fresh detergent, increasing the amount for heavily soiled loads or hard water conditions. Scrape food from dishes before loading, but do not prerinse. Also, check for suds, which can prevent proper operation; suds can result from using the wrong type of detergent, forgetting to replace the rinse aid cap, or using too much detergent.

What to do if my Whirlpool WDF560SAFM doesn't drain?
    • R
      Richard BryantAug 5, 2025
If your Whirlpool Dishwasher isn't draining, ensure that the cleaning cycle has fully completed and the 'Clean' light is illuminated. If the cycle is not complete, close the door and press 'Start/Resume' to continue the cycle. If your dishwasher is connected to a food waste disposer, verify that the knockout plug has been removed from the disposer inlet. Inspect the drain hose for any kinks. Check for any food obstructions in the drain or disposer. Also, check your house fuse or circuit breaker.

Why aren't my dishes drying in Whirlpool Dishwasher?
    • Z
      Zachary JacksonAug 10, 2025
For optimal drying in your Whirlpool Dishwasher, use rinse aid in conjunction with the Heat Dry option. Proper loading is also important; glasses and cups with concave bottoms tend to collect water, which may spill onto other items when unloading. To prevent this, unload the bottom rack first and place these items on the more slanted side of the rack for improved drainage.

How to prevent spots on dishes in Whirlpool WDF560SAFM Dishwasher?
    • P
      Paul GreenAug 14, 2025
To address spotting or filming on dishes in your Whirlpool Dishwasher, use liquid rinse aid to assist with drying and reduce spots. Ensure you're using the correct amount of detergent. Test if the cloudiness is removable by soaking the item in white vinegar for 5 minutes; if it disappears, the issue is likely due to hard water, and you should adjust the detergent and rinse aid amounts. Ensure the incoming water temperature is set to 120°F (49°C) and consider using the High Temp and Sani Rinse options. To remove existing spotting, perform a vinegar rinse: place 2 cups (500 mL) of white vinegar in a glass measuring cup on the lower rack, run a normal cycle with the Heat Dry option off, and do not use detergent.

Why is the clean light flashing on my Whirlpool WDF560SAFM?
    • J
      James AtkinsonAug 18, 2025
If the Clean indicator is flashing on your Whirlpool Dishwasher, check the following: Ensure the overfill protection float can move freely; press down to release it. Verify that the water supply is turned on to the dishwasher, especially after a new installation. Check for suds inside the dishwasher, which can interfere with proper operation or filling. Suds can result from using the wrong type of detergent (like laundry detergent or hand soap), forgetting to replace the rinse aid dispenser cap after filling, or using too much dishwasher detergent.

    Willie FosterAug 23, 2025
Why is my Whirlpool WDF560SAFM Dishwasher making so much noise?
    • G
      George BakerAug 23, 2025
Common noises from your Whirlpool Dishwasher include surging sounds during draining, hissing from the water valve, and a snapping sound when the detergent dispenser opens or the door is opened at the end of the cycle. Ensure the dishwasher is properly installed to minimize noise levels. Verify that the filters are correctly installed. If you hear a thumping sound, it may be due to items extending beyond the racks and interfering with the wash arms; readjust the dishware to resolve this.
