Why Whirlpool WED72HEDW clothes are not drying?
    • J
      Joshua EsparzaAug 17, 2025
Several factors can cause your Whirlpool dryer to not dry clothes effectively. Check if the EcoBoost™ option is turned on, as it prioritizes energy savings over drying time. Ensure the lint screen, exhaust vent, and outside exhaust hood are clean and free of obstructions. Verify the exhaust vent is the correct length and diameter (4"/102 mm). Make sure the dryer is level so clothes contact the moisture sensors. Select the appropriate temperature setting and avoid overloading the dryer. Fabric softener sheets shouldn't block the air outlet grille. Finally, ensure the room temperature is above 45ºF (7ºC) and that the dryer isn't located in a closet without proper ventilation.

Why Whirlpool WED72HEDW will not heat?
    • A
      Adam YoungAug 20, 2025
If your Whirlpool dryer's drum is turning but not heating, the issue could stem from a blown household fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Electric dryers typically use two fuses or breakers, so inspect both. Replace fuses or reset the breaker. Electric dryers need a 240-volt power supply, so consult an electrician if issues persist. For gas dryers, ensure the valve on the gas supply line is open.

What to do if my Whirlpool Dryer is making a rattling noise?
    • D
      Danielle CollinsAug 23, 2025
A rattling or vibrating noise in your Whirlpool dryer could be due to several reasons. Check for small objects caught between the edges of the dryer drum and remove them. Ensure the dryer is properly leveled, with all four feet firmly on the floor. If clothing is balled up inside, separate the items and restart the dryer.

What to do if my Whirlpool Dryer will not run?
    • M
      Michael HowardAug 26, 2025
If your Whirlpool dryer isn't running, first ensure the door is completely closed. Then, firmly touch and hold the START/PAUSE button for 2–5 seconds. Check your household fuses or circuit breakers; electric dryers often have two. Replace any blown fuses (use a time-delay fuse) or reset tripped breakers. Electric dryers need a 240-volt power supply, so consult an electrician if necessary.

    • D
      dunnleeAug 28, 2025
If you're finding lint on your clothes after drying in your Whirlpool dryer, the lint screen is likely clogged. Clean the lint screen before each load to prevent this issue.

Why is my Whirlpool WED72HEDW cycle time too short?
    • G
      geraldmortonAug 31, 2025
If your Whirlpool dryer cycle is too short, it might be because the load isn't properly contacting the sensor strips during Automatic Cycles. To fix this, make sure the dryer is level and that all four feet are firmly touching the floor.

What to do if my Whirlpool WED72HEDW is making a thumping noise?
    • A
      Anthony StantonSep 2, 2025
A thumping noise in your Whirlpool dryer, especially if it hasn't been used recently, is usually due to temporary flat spots on the drum rollers. This sound should diminish after a few minutes of operation.

Why is my Whirlpool WED72HEDW Dryer making a loud humming noise?
    • M
      michellestokesSep 5, 2025
A loud humming or increased noise during a Whirlpool dryer cycle can occur if the load is packed too tightly or the exhaust vent is blocked. Reduce the load size to the recommended amount and check the Cycle Guide. Inspect the outside exhaust hood for proper air movement. If airflow is minimal, clean the exhaust system of lint or replace the exhaust vent with a heavy metal or flexible metal vent.

Why Whirlpool WED72HEDW has stains on load?
    • T
      Theresa CollinsSep 8, 2025
Stains on clothes after drying in your Whirlpool dryer may be due to improper use of fabric softener. Always add dryer fabric softener sheets at the beginning of the cycle. Adding them to a partially dried load can cause stains. Also, avoid using fabric softener sheets with steam cycles.

Why is my Whirlpool Dryer making a humming noise with Steam cycle?
    • J
      Jonathan SalazarSep 12, 2025
The humming or whining noise during the Steam cycle on some Whirlpool dryer models is normal. It's the water pump or water inlet valve running. If the dryer is newly installed or hasn't been used for a while, the noise may be louder and last longer. This is typical, even without a water line connected.
