What to do if my Whirlpool WTW8900BC is not draining or spinning and loads are still wet?
    • R
      Reginald WatsonAug 23, 2025
If your Whirlpool washer isn't draining or spinning, and your clothes are still wet, consider these points: * Small items might be caught in the pump or between the basket and tub. Empty pockets and use garment bags for small items. * Cycles with lower spin speeds remove less water. Use the recommended cycle/speed spin for your garment. * A tightly packed or unbalanced washer may not spin correctly. Evenly arrange the wet load for balanced spinning, or select RINSE/DRAIN & SPIN to remove excess water. * Also, check the drain hose installation. Ensure it doesn't extend more than 4.5" (114 mm) into the standpipe, is securely attached to the drainpipe or tub, and isn't taped over. Lower the drain hose if the end is higher than 96" (2.4 m) above the floor, and remove any clogs.

What does the Sd (Excess suds) error code mean on my Whirlpool WTW8900BC?
    • F
      fernandezjohnAug 26, 2025
The "Sd" error code on your Whirlpool washer indicates excessive suds. The washer is running a suds reduction routine. Allow the washer to continue. Use only HE detergent, measuring the amount based on load size and following the detergent manufacturer’s instructions. If the dial is flashing, reselect your desired cycle using a cold wash temperature, and press START/PAUSE without adding detergent.

What does dU (Lid cannot unlock) mean on my Whirlpool Washer display?
    • B
      Brian GomezSep 18, 2025
The "dU" error code on your Whirlpool washer display indicates that the lid cannot unlock, likely because objects on the washer lid are preventing it from unlocking. Remove any objects, such as a basket of laundry, from the top of the washer.

What does dL (Lid cannot lock) mean on my Whirlpool WTW8900BC display?
    • E
      elizabethatkinsonSep 15, 2025
The "dL" error code on your Whirlpool washer display means the lid cannot lock, possibly because an item in the load is keeping it from locking. Check for items directly under the lid.

What does lid (Lid opened) mean on my Whirlpool WTW8900BC display?
    • B
      Brandon PhillipsSep 16, 2025
The "lid" error code on your Whirlpool washer display indicates that the washer lid is open. Close the lid to clear the display. If the lid is left open for more than 10 minutes, the cycle will reset, and water in the washer will drain.

Why is the dispenser not working correctly in my Whirlpool Washer?
    • R
      Richard JonesSep 6, 2025
If the dispenser in your Whirlpool washer is not working correctly, avoid overfilling it, as this causes immediate dispensing. Always select the Fabric Softener option to assure proper dispensing and load dispensers before starting a cycle. Note that small amounts of water may remain in the dispenser at the end of the cycle, which is normal. If you have low water pressure, you may notice residual powder in the dispenser; selecting a warmer wash temperature might help, depending on your load.

What causes fabric damage in my Whirlpool WTW8900BC?
    • H
      hughesangelaSep 3, 2025
Fabric damage in your Whirlpool washer can be caused by sharp items in pockets during the wash cycle; empty pockets, zip zippers, and snap or hook fasteners before washing. Strings and straps can tangle, so tie them before starting the wash. Mend any rips and broken threads in seams beforehand. Avoid tightly packing the load; instead, load garments in loose heaps evenly around the washplate to allow items to move freely during the wash. Use the cycle designed for the fabrics being washed, and add only one or two additional garments after the washer has started.
