IMPORTANT SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES

GENERAL OPERATION

Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the machine and in the manual.

SLOPE OPERATION

Slopes are a major factor related to loss of control and tip-over accidents.

SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE

Use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the vapors are explosive.

SLOPE GAUGE

TRACTOR SET-UP

Attaching the Battery Cables

Connect the positive and negative battery cables following specific instructions and safety warnings.

Gas and Oil Fill-up

Locate the gasoline tank and ensure proper oil level before operation. Do not overfill.

Attaching the Steering Wheel

Secure the steering wheel to the steering shaft using the provided hex screw and washer.

Attaching the Seat

Attach the seat to the pivot bracket, ensuring it is secured and properly adjusted for operation.

KNOW YOUR LAWN TRACTOR

Throttle Control Lever

Controls engine speed and choke. Set to FAST for mowing with deck engaged.

Brake Pedal

Used for sudden stops or setting the parking brake. Must be fully depressed for starting.

OPERATING YOUR LAWN TRACTOR

Safety Interlock Switches

System prevents starting or operation if safety conditions are not met.

Reverse Caution Mode

Allows operation in reverse with blades engaged. Use extreme caution.

Starting the Engine

Follow procedures for ignition, PTO, brake, choke, and throttle for safe engine start.

Driving the Tractor

Use shift lever and drive pedal for forward/reverse motion. Avoid sudden starts/stops.

Driving On Slopes

Mow up/down slopes, not across. Exercise extreme caution and maintain slow speed.

Mowing

Follow guidelines for safe mowing, discharge direction, speed, and grass height.

MAKING ADJUSTMENTS

Leveling the Deck

Adjust front-to-rear and side-to-side for even cutting. Check tire pressure first.

Steering Adjustment

Adjust drag links for equal lengths to ensure straight tractor travel.

MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN TRACTOR

Engine

Refer to engine manual for instructions on oil checks, changing oil, and air cleaner service.

Lubrication

Lubricate pivot points, drive system, parking brake, lift linkage, axles, and front axles seasonally.

Tires

Check tire sidewall for recommended psi. Maintain proper pressure for even cutting.

SERVICE

Cutting Deck Removal

Follow steps to disengage PTO, lower deck, remove belt, and slide deck out from under tractor.

Jump Starting

Connect jumper cables correctly to avoid sparking or battery explosion.

Cutting Blades

Shut off engine, remove key, disconnect spark plug wire before removing blades for sharpening.

Changing the Deck Belt & PTO Belt

Follow procedures to remove old belts and route new belts for 42-inch and 46-inch decks.

Engine fails to start
