Overview

This document is a user manual for the Willz Microwave Oven, covering models WLCMWP09S2B-09, WLCMWP09BKB-09, and WLCMWP09WEB-09. It provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, installation, cooking, and maintenance of the appliance.

The Willz Microwave Oven is designed for heating, cooking, and drying foods efficiently. It is not intended for laboratory use or deep frying, as controlling oil temperature in a microwave can be difficult. The oven operates on a 120-volt, 60 Hz AC circuit and requires a 20-amp power supply. For optimal performance and safety, it is recommended to use a separate circuit dedicated to the oven. The appliance is equipped with a 3-prong grounding plug and must be connected to a properly installed and grounded wall outlet to reduce the risk of electric shock. If an extension cord is necessary, it must be a 3-wire grounded type with a rating equal to or greater than the appliance's electrical rating, and arranged to avoid draping over surfaces.

Usage Features:

The microwave features a user-friendly control panel with a digital display that shows cooking time, power level, indicators, and food weight. It offers various cooking modes and settings to simplify meal preparation.

  • Number Pads (0-9): Used for setting time or weight inputs.
  • Clock Function: Allows users to set the current time in either a 12-hour or 24-hour format. The clock time can be viewed during a cooking program by pressing the Clock pad.
  • Time Cook: This function enables manual setting of microwave cooking programs. Users can input desired cooking time, up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds, and select a specific power level from 0% (P-0) to 100% (P10) using the number pads. The power level can be adjusted during cooking.
  • Timer Function: A standalone timer that can be set for up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. It can be used independently or during a cooking process. The countdown time can be checked by pressing the Timer pad, and the function can be canceled by pressing Stop/Cancel when the timer is displayed.
  • Express Cook: For quick cooking, users can press a number key (1-6) in standby mode to immediately start cooking at full power for 1 to 6 minutes, respectively.
  • Add 30 Seconds (START/+30 SEC.): In standby mode, repeatedly pressing this pad adds 30 seconds to the cooking time, starting the oven automatically at 100% power. During active cooking (except auto cook and defrost), this button can also be used to extend the cooking time.
  • Time Defrost: This feature allows defrosting based on a set time, up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. During defrosting, the oven pauses and beeps to remind the user to turn the food over, after which pressing START/+30 SEC. resumes the process. The power level during defrosting can be checked by pressing the Power pad.
  • Weight Defrost: This function enables defrosting based on the food's weight, with a range of 4 oz to 64 oz. Similar to Time Defrost, the oven will pause and beep to prompt turning the food over.
  • Multi-Stage Cooking: The oven can be programmed for up to two consecutive automatic cooking sequences, specifically microwave cooking programs. This allows for complex cooking processes without manual intervention between stages.
  • Auto Cook Menus: Pre-programmed settings for popular foods, allowing automatic cooking or reheating without needing to manually input power level or time. These include:
    • Potato: For cooking potatoes (8oz/each), with options for 1 or 2 portions.
    • Popcorn: Designed for a 3.5 oz. bag of microwave popcorn.
    • Pizza: For reheating pizza, with weight options of 6, 11, or 16 oz.
    • Beverage: For heating beverages, with volume options of 8, 12, or 16 oz.
    • Frozen Dinner: For cooking frozen dinners, with options for 9 or 18 oz.
    • Reheat: For reheating cool food (7-28 oz.), with various weight options.
  • STOP/CANCEL: This pad is used to reset the oven before starting a cooking program, temporarily pause cooking with a single press, or cancel cooking entirely with a double press.
  • Door Lock System: The microwave is equipped with a door lock system to prevent operation when the door is open, ensuring safety.
  • Child Lock: To prevent unsupervised operation by children, a child lock feature is available. It is activated by pressing and holding Stop/Cancel for 3 seconds, indicated by 'Loc' on the display. Holding Stop/Cancel again for 3 seconds deactivates it.

Installation and Safety:

Proper installation is crucial for the microwave's safe and efficient operation. The appliance should be placed on a flat, stable surface capable of supporting its weight and the heaviest food. Adequate airflow is necessary, requiring 8 inches of space above, 4 inches at the back, and 2 inches on each side. The oven should not be placed near heat, moisture, high humidity, or combustible materials. It must be used on a countertop at least 3 feet above the floor.

The turntable assembly, consisting of a glass tray and roller ring, must always be used during cooking, and all food containers should be placed on the glass tray. The glass tray should never be restricted or placed upside down.

Safety precautions emphasize not attempting to operate the microwave with a damaged door, hinges, latches, or seals, as this can lead to harmful exposure to microwave energy. Users are advised not to place objects between the microwave's front face and the door, or allow residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces.

Maintenance Features:

Regular cleaning and care are essential for maintaining the microwave's performance and longevity.

  • Interior Cleaning: The inside of the microwave should be cleaned with a damp cloth after use, especially if food splatters or liquids adhere to the walls. Mild detergents can be used for stubborn dirt. Harsh or spray cleaners should be avoided as they may stain or dull surfaces.
  • Exterior Cleaning: The outside of the microwave should be cleaned with a damp cloth. Care should be taken to prevent water from seeping into ventilation openings.
  • Window and Control Panel: The window should be wiped clean with a damp cloth. The control panel should be cleaned with a soft, damp cloth, keeping the door open to prevent accidental activation.
  • Glass Tray and Roller Ring: The glass tray can be washed in warm, soapy water or a dishwasher. The roller ring should also be cleaned regularly to prevent excessive noise and can be washed in mild, soapy water or a dishwasher. It must be replaced in the proper position after cleaning.
  • Odor Removal: To remove odors, a cup of water with lemon juice and skin can be microwaved for 5 minutes, followed by thorough wiping and drying.
  • Light Bulb Replacement: If the light bulb burns out, customer service should be contacted for replacement.
  • General Maintenance: The microwave should be cleaned regularly to prevent food deposits from accumulating, which could lead to deterioration of surfaces and potentially hazardous situations.

Cooking Utensils Guide:

The manual provides guidance on suitable cooking utensils:

  • Recommended: Microwave browning dishes (for browning small items), microwaveable plastic wrap (to retain steam), paper towels and napkins (for short-term heating and covering), glass and glass-ceramic bowls and dishes, paper plates and cups (for low-temperature heating), wax paper (to prevent splattering), and microwave-safe thermometers.
  • Limited Use: Aluminum foil (in narrow strips to prevent overcooking exposed areas, keeping 1 inch from cavity), ceramic, porcelain, and stoneware (if labeled "Microwave Safe"), and plastics (if labeled "Microwave Safe").
  • Not Recommended: Regular glass jars and bottles (too thin, can shatter), paper bags (except popcorn bags), Styrofoam plates and cups (can melt), plastic storage and food containers like margarine tubs (can melt), and metal utensils (can damage the oven).

To test if a dish is microwave-safe, place the empty dish in the oven and microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds; if it becomes very hot, it should not be used.

Cooking Techniques:

The manual offers tips for effective microwave cooking:

  • Stirring: Stir foods like casseroles and vegetables to distribute heat evenly, moving food from the outside to the center, as outer areas absorb more energy.
  • Arrangement: Arrange evenly shaped foods with thicker, meatier parts towards the outside of the turntable. Place delicate areas towards the center to prevent overcooking.
  • Shielding: Use narrow strips of aluminum foil to shield delicate areas (e.g., poultry wing tips) to prevent overcooking. Use small amounts of foil to avoid damaging the microwave.
  • Turning: Turn foods over midway through cooking, especially large items like roasts, to ensure even exposure to microwave energy.
  • Standing: Allow foods to stand for a few minutes after heating to complete cooking, as internal heat continues to build. This is particularly important for cakes, whole vegetables, and roasts. Liquids should be shaken or stirred after cooking.
  • Adding Moisture: Microwave energy is attracted to water molecules. For foods with uneven moisture content, cover them or allow them to stand. Adding a small amount of water to dry food can aid cooking.

The Willz Microwave Oven is designed to be a convenient and versatile appliance for everyday cooking needs, with a strong emphasis on user safety and proper maintenance.
