How to stop belt slippage on Woods RM990-3?
    • T
      Tamara KellerAug 13, 2025
Belt slippage on your Woods Lawn Mower can occur due to mower overloading from material that is too tall or heavy, oil contamination from over-lubrication, or the belt being obstructed. Reduce the tractor's ground speed while maintaining full PTO rpm. Consider cutting the material twice: once with a high pass and then at the desired height. Cut a partial swath. Avoid over-lubricating, clean any lubricant from the belt and pulleys with a clean rag, and replace any oil-soaked belts. Ensure the belt moves freely in the pulleys and belt guides, and check under the mower and around the blade spindle shafts for any foreign materials, cleaning them away.

      jamesbowmanAug 17, 2025
Belt rollover on your Woods Lawn Mower can be attributed to pulley misalignment, a damaged belt, foreign objects in the pulley grooves, or a worn pulley groove. Re-align the pulleys. Replace the belt. Inspect all pulley grooves for rust, paint, or weld spots and remove them. Consider replacing the pulley.

What to do if my Woods Lawn Mower is leaving streaks?
    • M
      mcdonaldtammyAug 20, 2025
If your Woods Lawn Mower is leaving streaks, it could be due to several factors. The conditions might be too wet for mowing, preventing the blades from cutting grass pressed down by tractor tires, or the blades may be dull. Allow the grass to dry before mowing. Reduce the tractor's ground speed while maintaining full PTO rpm. Consider sharpening or replacing the blades.

Why is my Woods Lawn Mower discharging material unevenly?
    • M
      Matthew BurnsAug 25, 2025
Uneven material discharge from your Woods Lawn Mower, resulting in bunches along the swath, can be caused by several issues. The material might be too high or too much, the grass could be wet, or the mower's rear might be too low, trapping material. To resolve this, reduce ground speed while maintaining 540 rpm at the tractor PTO, or make two passes over the material, raising the mower for the first pass and lowering it for the second, cutting at a 90° angle to the first pass. Also, raise the rear of the mower enough to allow material to discharge, but not so high as to cause other issues. Allow the grass to dry before mowing, and adjust the mower height and attitude.

Why does my Woods Lawn Mower cut grass higher in the center?
    • A
      alyssajordanAug 28, 2025
If your Woods Lawn Mower cuts grass higher in the center of the swath than at the edge, it's likely because the mower's rear is higher than the front. Adjust the mower height and attitude so that the rear and front are within 1/2" of the same height.

Why are there frayed edges on my Woods RM990-3 Lawn Mower cover?
    • A
      Alejandro JohnsonSep 5, 2025
Frayed edges on your Woods Lawn Mower cover may be due to a misaligned belt or the belt rubbing against a guide, or pulley misalignment. Re-align the belt or guide, ensuring the belt does not rub against any other part while running. Inspect to ensure the belt is running in the center of the backside idler, and shim the idler as necessary to align it.
