— Cleanbatteryterminals.Becarefultokeepcorro-
sionfromcomingincontactwitheyes.
— Inspectthebatteryforcrackedorbrokencaseor
cover.Ifbatteryisdamaged,donotusetester.
— If the battery is not sealed maintenance free,
adddistilledwaterineachcelluntilbatteryacid
reacheslevelspeciedbythemanufacturer.This
helps purge excessive gas from cells. Do not
overll.
— If necessary to remove battery from vehicle to
test,alwaysremovegroundterminalfrombattery
rst.Makesureallaccessoriesinthevehicleare
otoensureyoudonotcauseanyarcing.

a metal tool onto the battery. It can spark
orshort-circuitthebatteryorotherelectrical
partsandcancauseanexplosion.
