What to do if X10 Security System console displays PROBLEM and Zone number?
    • J
      Jeremy BrownAug 19, 2025
If the X10 Security System console displays 'PROBLEM' and a zone number when arming, it means a sensor or motion detector hasn't reported in for the last 4 hours, or a protected door or window is open. First, check the batteries in the sensor/motion detector. If you need to arm the system immediately, press CLEAR on the console while the problem is displayed, then press ARM on the remote. Note that the problem zone will not be protected.

      katrinachangAug 21, 2025
Motion detectors can trigger false alarms by sensing temperature changes. To prevent this with your X10 Security System, avoid placing the motion detector near heat sources like heating vents or air conditioners, and keep it out of direct bright light, such as sunlight.

      Clifford CookAug 23, 2025
If you hear a repetitive trouble alarm when trying to arm your X10 Security System, check the console's display for a PROBLEM indication with a zone number, which means a door or window might be open. Press DISARM and ensure all door/window sensors are working and that all doors and windows are closed before re-arming. Alternatively, press CLEAR on the console while the alarm sounds to bypass the problem zone, or check the Door/Window Sensor cover for a TAMPER indication. Also, ensure the upper right lid on the console is closed.

      Daniel SandersAug 26, 2025
If the lights aren't responding to the ON or OFF buttons on your X10 Security System keychain remote, ensure you've set the correct SECURITY LIGHT code in the console. Verify the light you're controlling has its on/off switch in the 'on' position and that the bulb is functional. Try plugging the module into another outlet near the console. Check that the remote's indicator lights up when you press a button; if not, replace the batteries and re-register the remote. Also, check the dials on the modules.
