Overview

The Mi Electric Scooter is a sports and recreational vehicle designed for personal transportation. It offers a stylish and convenient way to travel, with a focus on ease of use, safety, and maintainability.

Function Description

The scooter is an assembled electric vehicle that operates on a battery-powered motor. It features a handlebar for steering, a headlight for visibility, and a brake lever for stopping. The accelerator is used to control speed, while a control panel provides information about the scooter's status. A scooter bell is included for alerting pedestrians and other riders. The scooter is designed with a folding mechanism, allowing for easy storage and carrying. It also includes a kickstand for stable parking.

Usage Features

  • Assembly and Set-Up: The scooter requires minimal assembly. Users need to fasten the handlebar stem to the headset, attach the handlebar to the stem, and then tighten screws on both sides of the stem using a hexagon wrench. After assembly, the power button should be pressed to ensure proper functionality.
  • Charging: The scooter is charged using a provided charging adapter. The charging port is located on the scooter's body and is protected by a rubber flap. The charging status is indicated by an LED on the charger, which changes from red (charging) to green (trickle charge) when fully charged. It is recommended to fully charge the battery after every use to prolong its lifespan.
  • Riding: To ride the scooter, first turn it on and check the power indicator. Step onto the deck with one foot and push off with the other. Once the scooter starts to coast and its speed exceeds 5 km/h, place both feet on the deck and press the accelerator. The accelerator automatically turns off when the scooter is at a full stop, requiring a repeat of the kick-off process to restart. For braking, releasing the accelerator initiates the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) for slow braking, while squeezing the brake lever provides sudden braking. Turning is achieved by tilting the body in the desired direction and slowly turning the handlebar.
  • Control Panel: The control panel features four power lights that indicate the battery level. As power is consumed, these lights change from solid to flashing and then turn off. A flashing bottom light indicates low power, prompting a recharge. The bottom light also serves as a mode display, flashing white for regular mode and green for power-saving mode. Power-saving mode limits the maximum speed to 18 km/h and offers smoother acceleration, ideal for beginners. The power button is used to turn the scooter on and off (press and hold for 2 seconds to turn off). After turning on, a single press toggles the headlight, and a double press switches between riding modes.
  • Folding and Carrying: Before folding, the scooter must be turned off. To fold, hold the handlebar stem, turn it counter-clockwise to open the safety hook, and open the quick release lever. Align the bell with the buckle on the mudguard and hook them together. To unfold, disengage the bell lever from the buckle, fold the handlebar stem up, close the quick release lever, and turn the handlebar stem clockwise to close the safety hook. The folded scooter can be carried by holding the handlebar stem with one or both hands.
  • Safety Instructions: Users are strongly advised to wear a helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads while riding. It is crucial to read the instruction manual carefully before use. Safety precautions include avoiding riding in the rain, not accelerating downhill, being aware of doors, elevators, and overhead obstacles, and not pressing the accelerator while walking alongside the scooter. To prevent inappropriate use, the rear wheel should be locked with a padlock when parked. Riders should always steer clear of obstacles, avoid hanging heavy items on the handlebar, and keep both feet on the deck at all times. When riding over speed bumps, elevator door sills, bumpy roads, or uneven surfaces, it is recommended to keep speed between 5–10 km/h and slightly bend the knees to absorb shocks. Dangerous actions such as riding in traffic lanes or residential areas with vehicles and pedestrians, turning the handlebar violently at high speeds, riding through puddles or water obstacles, or riding with passengers (including children) are prohibited. Users should not keep their feet on the rear mudguard, touch the disc brake, take their hands off the handlebar, or attempt to ride up/down stairs or jump over obstacles.
  • Safety Reminder: The scooter is intended for riders aged 16 to 50 years. Riders with reduced physical, sensorial, or mental capabilities, or those lacking experience, should drive carefully. Children should not play with or maintain the scooter. The scooter is a leisure device, but in public areas, it is considered a vehicle, subject to associated risks. Users must follow manual instructions and traffic laws. Risks like road accidents, slipping, losing balance, or falling cannot be entirely avoided. Caution, proper speed, and distance are crucial, especially in unfamiliar places. Pedestrians' right of way must be respected; ring the bell and slow down when passing. When riding across pedestrians, keep to the right at low speed or dismount. Xiaomi Communication Co., Ltd. is not liable for financial losses, injuries, or legal disputes resulting from violations of user instructions. High speed or inappropriate speed for conditions (bad weather, bad surfaces) can lead to instability or loss of control. Be careful when mounting and dismounting to avoid injury. Do not lend the scooter to inexperienced individuals. Always ensure the borrower understands operation and wears safety gear. Check the scooter before each use for loose parts, low battery, flat tires, wear, strange sounds, or malfunctions; stop riding immediately and seek professional support if any issues are found. Always hold the handle with both hands to prevent shaking and falling. Park the scooter on a flat, stable surface with the stand against any slope to prevent tipping. Avoid parking in busy areas.

Maintenance Features

  • Cleaning: For stains on the scooter's body, wipe with a damp cloth. For stubborn stains, apply toothpaste, brush with a toothbrush, then wipe clean. For scratches on plastic parts, use sandpaper or abrasive materials to polish them. Do not use alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or corrosive chemical solvents for cleaning. Avoid high-pressure water sprays. Ensure the scooter is off, the charging cable is unplugged, and the rubber flap is closed during cleaning to prevent electric shock or other issues from water leakage.
  • Storage: Store the scooter indoors in a dry and cool place when not in use. Avoid prolonged outdoor exposure to prevent accelerated tire aging and compromise of the scooter and battery pack lifespan due to excessive sunlight, overheating, or overcooling. If the scooter will be idle for more than 30 days, fully charge the battery and store it in a dry, cool place. Recharge every 60 days to prevent battery damage.
  • Battery Maintenance: Do not remove the battery. If the product is under warranty, contact an authorized repairer for battery issues. If not, contact a specialized repairer. Use only original battery packs and the original charging adapter to avoid safety issues. Do not touch battery contacts, dismantle or puncture the casing, or allow metal objects to short-circuit the contacts. Mishandling used batteries can harm the environment; dispose of them according to local regulations. Always charge the battery before it is fully exhausted to prolong its lifespan. Battery performance is optimal at normal temperatures and degrades below 0°C. A fully charged Mi Electric Scooter battery will last for 120-180 days. The built-in intelligent chip logs charging and discharging records. Prolonged non-charging causes irreversible damage beyond warranty coverage, and the battery cannot be recharged. Non-professionals are forbidden from dismantling the battery pack due to risks of electric shock, short circuit, or accidents.
  • Tire Maintenance: Spare tires must be mounted by a professional repairer. Incorrect assembly can lead to instability and malfunctions. If the product is under warranty, contact an authorized repairer. If not, contact a specialized repairer. For flat tires, remove the screw-on cap from the valve, connect the extended nozzle adapter to the valve, and pump air.
  • Brake Adjustment: If the brake is too tight, use an M4 hexagon wrench to loosen the screws on the caliper, slightly send back the brake cable to shorten the exposed length, then tighten the screws. If the brake is too loose, loosen the screws, slightly pull out the brake cable to lengthen the exposed length, then tighten the screws.
  • Handlebar Adjustment: If the handlebar and its stem sway during riding, use an M5 hexagon wrench to tighten the screws on the folding mechanism.
  • Professional Support: For any issues or questions, especially if an action seems too complicated, users are advised to contact an authorized or specialized repairer or Xiaomi's customer service.
