There are two special purpose detectors:
VESDA VLI - The VESDA VLI is designed for industrial applications and harsh environments. The detector
features an Intelligent Filter which eliminates the need for external filters and significantly extends service life.
Inertial secondary filtration removes large dust particles further extending detector service life and
safeguarding against nuisance alarms. The IP 54 / NEMA 3 compliant enclosure provides protection from the
environment, thus eliminating the need for costly enclosures. The aggregate sampling pipe length of up to 360
m (1200 ft) covers larger areas with fewer detectors. For further details, refer to the VESDA VLI Product

4.3 PC Software
Xtralis VSC is a software application that has been developed to configure, manage and maintain VESDA
Systems. The software allows control of detectors and devices connected to the system. It can be
downloaded from the partner extranet at www.xtralis.com.
Xtralis VSM4 is an optional software package that provides the ability to monitor multiple remote sites with full
control and programming functionality. Refer to www.xtralis.com or contact your authorized representative for
further information.
4.4 Communications Network
The VESDA System communicates over a fault tolerant, bidirectional VESDAnet communications network.
Each device in the system is connected to VESDAnet. Details on VESDAnet can be found in the VESDA
Communications Guide.
