2. Connecting the shift cable to the outboard
motor.
1) Install the motor’s shift cables in the
outboard motor. Again, when doing this,
pull slightly on the cable to eliminate
any backlash and then push slightly in
order to find the center point.
Make certain that the clamp groove fits in
the C hub groove of the shift cable without
applying any force to the cable and shift
arm. If a proper fit is not achieved, change
the position of the cable end piece.
After making any adjustment, always check
to make sure the cable end is screwed in at
least 8mm.
2) Secure the cable.
NOTE:
The cable ends at the motor may require fine
adjustments later after rigging and testing.
3) Adjust the shift cable by referring the
instructions in CHECKING ACTUATOR
OPERATION. Page 17.
