Why won't my Yamaha Portable Generator start?
- KKimberly GutierrezJul 26, 2025
Your Yamaha Portable Generator might not start due to several reasons: * No fuel is being supplied to the combustion chamber: Supply fuel. * Fuel tank cap air vent knob is not in the correct position: Turn the fuel tank cap air vent knob to 'OPEN' (turn it 1 turn counterclockwise). * Fuel cock knob is not in the correct position: Turn the fuel cock knob to 'ON'. * There is a clogged fuel line: Clean the fuel line. * There is a clogged carburetor: Clean the carburetor. * The oil level is low: Add engine oil. * The engine switch is not 'ON': Turn the engine switch (Red) to 'ON'. * The spark plug is dirty with carbon or wet: Remove carbon or wipe the spark plug dry. * Faulty ignition system or worn out piston and cylinder: Consult dealer.
