Function and operation of components

■ Remote control lever

Moving the remote control levers from the

neutral (N) position to the forward (F) posi-

tion (towards the bow of the boat) makes the

boat move forwards, while moving it to the

reverse (R) position (towards the stern of the

boat) makes the boat move backwards. The

boat will be moving with the engine at idle.

Moving the lever farther opens the throttle,

and the engine will begin to accelerate.
