MIDI
Foot
Controller.
The
MFCO5
makes
control
of
MIDI
instruments
and
effect
units
more
convenient
by
allowing
programs
1
through
10
to
be
selected
by
simply
tapping
a
footswitch.
The
MFCOS
is
built
to
Yamaha’s
rigid
quality
standards,
and
will
provide
reliable
service
for
many
years
if
handled
properly
Please
read
this
operation
manual
thoroughly
before
setting
up
and
using
your
MFCOS
1.
PRECAUTIONS
®
Keep
the
unit
away
from
locations
where
it
is
likely
to
be
exposed
to
high
temperatures
or
humidity—such
as
near
radiators,
stoves,
etc.
Also
avoid
locations
which
are
subject
to
excessive
dust
accumulation
or
vibration
which
could
cause
mechanical
damage
®
Strong
physical
shocks
to
the
unit
can
cause
damage.
Handle
it
with
care.
®
This
product
contains
no
user-serviceable
parts.
Refer
all
maintenance
to
qualified
Yamaha
service
personnel.
Opening
the
unit
and/or
tampering
with
the
internal
circuitry
will
void
the
warranty.
®
Always
turn
the
power
OFF
prior
to
connecting
or
dis-
connecting
cables,
This
is
important
to
prevent
damage
to
the
unit
itself
as
well
as
other
connected
equipment
@
Always
plug
and
unplug
cables
by
gripping
the
connector,
not
the
cord.
®
Never
use
solvents
such
as
benzine
or
thinner
to
clean
the
unit.
Wipe
clean
with
a
soft,
dry
cloth.
The
MECOS
will
run
from
dry
batteries
or
an
optional
AC
adapter.
Use
ONLY
the
Yamaha
PA-1
(B)
AC
adapter
when
running
the
MFC05
from
the
AC
mains.
Attempting
to
use
other
AC
adapters
can
cause
serious
damage.
@
The
MFCOS
contains
digital
circuitry,
and
may
cause
interference
if
placed
too
close
to
television
or
radio
re-
ceivers,
or
other
broadcast
reception
equipment.
If
inter-
ference
occurs,
move
the
MFCOS
further
away
from
the
affected
equipment

The
MFCO5
should
always
be
turned
ON
before
other
equip-
ment
connected
to
it
is
turned
ON
©
If
your
MFCOS
will
not
be
used
for
an
extended
period
of
time,
remove
the
internal
batteries.
The
AC
adapter
should
be
unplugged
from
the
AC
mains
outlet
whenever
the
MFCOS
is
not
being
used.
@
Always
use
the
MFCOS
with
a
properly
constructed
MIDI
cable.
Never
use
a
MIDI
cable
longer
than
15
meters.
2.
SETTING
UP
Please
set
up
the
MFCOS
according
to
the
following
procedure
@
Install
the
batteries
as
described
in
the
previous
section.
@
After
making
sure
that
both
the
MFCOS
power
switch
and
the
power
switch
of
the
equipment
to
be
controlled
are
OFF,
connect
an
appropriate
MIDI
cable
(less
than
15
meters)
from
the
MFC05
MIDI
OUT
connector
to
the
MIDI
IN
connector
on
the
receiving
device.
The
receiving
device
can
be
a
MIDI
synthesizer
or
a
MIDI-controllable
effect
unit
such
as
the
Yamaha
REX50,
SPX90
II,
REVS,
etc.
@
First
turn
the
MFCOS
power
switch
ON,
and
chen
the
power
switch
of
the
receiving
device.
When
the
MFCOS
power
switch
is
turned
ON,
the
BANK
A
LED
indicator
will
light.
@
Set
the
receive
channel
of
the
receiving
MIDI
device
to
either
1
or
OMNI.
The
MFCOS
transmits
only
on
channel
1

Since
the
MFCO5
transmits
MIDI
program
change
numbers
1
through
10,
make
sure
the
programs
you
wish
to
select
on
the
receiving
device
are
stored
in
the
appropriate
memory
locations.
If
your
receiving
device
uses
a
program
change
assignment
table,
make
sure
it
is
set
to
to
allow
you
to
select
the
desired
programs
3.
OPERATION
Operating
the
MFCOS
is
simplicity
itself.
You
can
transmit
any
MIDI
program
change
number
from
1
(00)
to
10
(09)
simply
by
pressing
the
appropriate
program
select
footswitch,
or
the
bank
select
footswitch
and
one
of
the
program
select
foot-
switches.
