Why won't the starter motor turn over on my Yamaha XR1800Z Boat?

If the starter motor isn't turning over, there are several potential causes. Check the fuse and replace it if necessary, while also inspecting the wiring. Ensure the battery is adequately charged. Tighten any poor terminal connections. Make sure the jet pump cleanout hatch is securely latched. Finally, confirm that the shift lever is in Neutral.

What to do if the starter motor turns over but the Yamaha XR1800Z Boat engine does not start?

If the starter motor turns over but the engine doesn't start, several issues could be the cause. First, ensure the stop switch clip is correctly installed. Refill the fuel tank as soon as possible. If the fuel is stale or contaminated, or if there are issues with the fuel tank or fuel filter, have the system serviced at a Yamaha dealer. If there's built-up pressure, open the fuel tank filler cap to release it. Inspect the spark plug; clean or replace it if necessary, and ensure the spark plug cap is properly fitted. If the crankcase is filled with water, crank the engine with the spark plug removed until it's clean. Finally, tighten the choke cable tension by adjusting the nut.
