GAS-FIRED DOUBLE-EFFECT
ABSORPTION CHILLER-HEATER
This product is a gas-fired absorption unit which provides chilled water for cooling or
hot water for heating in central plant type air conditioning systems. Units with nominal
refrigeration capacities of 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, and 100 tons are complete with operating
and safety controls.
When this equipment is correctly applied, installed in accordance with Yazaki
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS, and properly maintained, it can provide many years
of trouble-free operation.

What to do if Yazaki Heater does not operate?
    • A
      Andrea HolmesAug 9, 2025
If the Yazaki Heater does not operate, there might be several reasons. First, check the LED for the Power indication on the Control Panel. If it is not illuminated, examine the main power disconnect, fuses, and breakers. Also, the solution pump might not be running. Check the THRP overload switch and the GP temperature. The solution pump may remain off until the GP temperature rises above 190°F (88°C). Finally, if the WTO temperature is above the set point, the unit may have shut down normally. To force operation, turn off power to the chiller-heater for 10 seconds, and then restore power. The chiller-heater should start up if the WTO sensor reading is above the set point.

What to do if Yazaki CH-K40 is not running but WTO temperature is above set point?

      Christopher GatesAug 29, 2025
If the Yazaki Heater is not running but the WTO temperature is above set point, it may not indicate a problem. If the chilled water loop has reached the desired set point, the unit will shut down until the WTO sensor reads a temperature 3.6°F (2°C) above the set point temperature. To force operation, turn off power to the chiller-heater, leave power off for 10 seconds, and then restore power. The chiller-heater should start up if the WTO sensor reading is above the set point.

Why does my Yazaki CH-K40 have poor cooling capacity?
    • B
      Betty CoxNov 18, 2025
If your Yazaki Heater has poor cooling capacity, several factors could be responsible. Start by checking for poor vacuum and evacuate the machine per normal maintenance procedure; a leak check may also be necessary. High inlet cooling water temperature can also be a cause, so inspect the cooling tower fan and fluid level. Low cooling water flow rate is another possibility; check the cooling tower sump and cooling water circuit strainers. Condenser/Absorber fouling or scale buildup can also reduce cooling capacity, so check the cooling water circuit strainers and consider a chemical de-scaling procedure. Finally, if everything appears normal but the leaving chilled water temperature is too high, it could be that the load of the chilled water circuit exceeds the capacity of the chiller-heate...
