Appendix 3. IECEx Ex “ec”/ IECEx Type “n” of S2BN4D / S2BN5D
App.3-4
TI 32S01J30-01E
Specic conditions of use
All the devices must be installed in the hazardous area in accordance with the marking shown
on each device. When the equipment consists of several devices, ensure that the equipment
consists only of the devices which can be used in the same hazardous environment.
Specic conditions of use (intrinsic safety “i”)
Although there are no specic usage conditions for the base plates for barrier, the certicate
of the intrinsic safety barriers that are to be connected to the base plates for barrier should be
checked.
Specic conditions of use (type of protection “n”)
The equipment shall only be used in an area of not more than pollution degree 2, as dened
in IEC 60664-1.
The equipment shall be installed in an enclosure that provides a degree of protection not
less than IP54 in accordance with IEC 60079-15 and IEC 60079-0.
Transient protection shall be provided at the terminals of System Power Supply. Transient
protection shall be set at level not exceeding 140 % of the peak rated voltage value.
Installation
Commissioning and installation must be carried out by specially trained and qualied
personnel only.
Depending on the level of protection, the intrinsically safe circuits of the devices (light blue
identication on the device) can be located in the hazardous area. It is especially important
to ensure that the intrinsically safe circuits are safely separated from all non-intrinsically safe
circuits.
The installation of the intrinsically safe circuits is to be conducted in accordance with the
relevant installation regulations.
The respective peak values of the eld device and the associated device with regard to
explosion protection should be considered when connecting intrinsically safe eld devices
with the intrinsically safe circuits of H-System devices (demonstration of intrinsic safety).
EN/IEC 60079-14 must be observed (where appropriate). If available, also the product
certication control drawing must be observed.
The EC-Type Examination Certicates or standard certicates/approvals should be
observed.
It is especially important to observe the “special conditions” if these are included in the
certicates.

Installation in Appendix 1.2 US (FM) NI/Canada (FM) NI/IECEx Ex “ec”/ECAS-EX Ex “ec”

Maintenance and repair
The transfer characteristics of the devices remain stable over long periods of time. This
eliminates the need for regular adjustment. Maintenance is not required.
For more information about maintenance and repair, refer to:
