The ZANDER MULTITRONIC Retrofit Kit is a control system designed for heatless regenerated adsorption dryers. It serves as a complete control unit for retrofitting or replacing existing control systems in most compressed air adsorption dryer models with cold regeneration. This system is suitable for dryers with 1 or 2 blow-off valves (3-valve or 4-valve models) and also for dryers equipped with an additional pressure build-up valve (5-valve models). The control system can manage dryers that are controlled directly or by means of a pilot valve.
Function Description:
The MULTITRONIC control system is factory-configured to match the specific dryer type. This includes the installation of necessary relays and the adjustment of cycle times, supply voltage, and signal contacts. The system is designed to control the regeneration process of adsorption dryers, ensuring efficient operation. For models with dewpoint measurement capabilities (Retrofit Kit Plus), the system monitors the dewpoint and can trigger vessel switching based on a preset nominal dewpoint value. The control unit features an "Economy cycle" indicator and a "Power" indicator on its display. It also provides a "Pressure DEW-Point" display for monitoring.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Compatibility: Suitable for cold regeneration adsorption dryers with electrically operated input and blow-off valves.
- Valve Configurations: Supports 3-valve, 4-valve, and 5-valve dryer models.
- Control Type: Can control dryers directly or via pilot valves.
- Dewpoint Measurement (Retrofit Kit Plus): Includes a ZHM 100 dewpoint sensor, sensor cell, and connecting cable.
- Dewpoint Range: The default nominal dewpoint value is -40 °C. The system switches vessels if the measured dewpoint reaches this value. The dewpoint alarm is set to +5 °C above the nominal switching value by default.
- Electrical Connections:
- Valve Control: Specific wiring instructions for 3-valve (Y1-Y2 to X1-X2, bridge X3-X4, Y3 to X3), 4-valve normally closed (Y1-Y4 to X1-X4), 4-valve normally open (Y1 to X2, Y2 to X1, Y3 to X3, Y4 to X4), and 5-valve (Y1-Y5 to X1-X5) models.
- Synchronized Compressor Operation (X8): Input contact for potential-free busbar of the compressor. Terminals 1 and 2 are bridged for operation without compressor synchronization.
- Optional Operating Alarm (X5): Potential-free alarm contact for auto-resetting dewpoint alarm (not available in 5-valve models or with external digital input).
- Dewpoint Sensor Unit (X8, X5, S2): Signal cable connects to X8 terminals 4 (brown), 5 (white), 6 (green). External dewpoint sensing systems with 4-20 mA output use X8 terminals 5 (4-20 mA) and 6 (PE/GND). External dewpoint sensor alarm contact (potential-free, normally closed) connects to X8 terminals 3 and 4; DIP switch S2 must be OFF to prevent a "SENS" error. DIP switch S2 ON displays current dewpoint from 4-20 mA input.
- Maximum Cable Length: 1300 mm for valve connections.
- Storage Conditions: Dry room, protected against dust, ambient temperature between +1 °C and +50 °C.
- Certifications: Conforms to Directive 89/336/EEC, DIN EN 55011, DIN EN 61000, DIN EN 60204, and 73/23/EC.
Usage Features:
- Compact Assembly: The MULTITRONIC Retrofit Kit is a compact unit, and its components are not available as separate spare parts.
- Dewpoint Display and Configuration: The display board in the switch box cover has a "Dewpoint +/-" key. Pressing it once shows the preset nominal value. Pressing it again adjusts the nominal value in 1-degree steps.
- System Reset: Switch S3 acts as a reset key, allowing operators to reset the currently running program. This reset only affects certain steps of the program procedure to prevent sudden pressure changes during vessel switching.
- Self-Adhesive Dots: Four self-adhesive dots are provided to mark the mounting position of the switch box (not reusable).
- Type Plate: A new type plate is supplied, and missing data should be added using a waterproof felt pen.
Maintenance Features:
- Installation Guidelines: Detailed instructions for preparation, connecting cables, mounting the switch box, mounting the sensor cell, internal connections, and electrical connections.
- Safety Notes: Emphasizes compliance with national safety regulations, warning against electrical voltage, and risks of sudden pressure release. All work on electrical components must be carried out by authorized and suitably qualified technical personnel.
- Warranty Voidance: Warranty is void if the control system is used without prior written approval for purposes other than specified, transported or stored incorrectly, installed incorrectly, repaired or maintained incorrectly, operated by unqualified personnel, or modified without manufacturer approval.
- Transport Damage: Instructions for checking for damage and contacting the manufacturer immediately if any is found. A damaged control system must not be put into operation.
- Documentation: The kit includes a summary operating manual and these installation guidelines. Users are advised to read both thoroughly.
