This document is a user manual for the Zanussi ZGNN642X hob, providing essential information for installation, safe use, maintenance, and technical specifications.
Function Description
The Zanussi ZGNN642X is a built-in gas hob designed for domestic cooking. It features four gas burners: one rapid burner, two semi-rapid burners, and one auxiliary burner. The hob is controlled by four control knobs, each corresponding to a specific burner, allowing for precise flame regulation. The appliance is equipped with a thermocouple safety device that interrupts the gas supply if the flame accidentally goes out, enhancing safety during operation. Ignition is achieved via a ceramic ignition candle with a metal electrode, which can also start automatically upon power connection after installation or a power cut.

Usage Features
- Ignition: To light a burner, push the control knob down and turn it counter-clockwise to the maximum gas supply position. Keep the knob pushed for 10 seconds to allow the thermocouple to warm up and prevent the gas supply from being interrupted. If the burner does not light after 15 seconds, release the knob, turn it to the off position, and try again after one minute.
- Flame Regulation: The hob is supplied with progressive valves for precise flame regulation, from maximum to minimum gas supply.
- Turning Off: To extinguish the flame, turn the knob to the off position.
- Cookware Compatibility: Use stable cookware with diameters applicable to the size of the burners (Rapid: 180-260 mm, Semi-rapid: 120-220 mm, Auxiliary: 80-180 mm). Cookware should be centrally positioned on the burner for maximum stability and lower gas consumption. Avoid using cast iron, clay, or earthenware pots, grill, or toaster plates, as they can tarnish the stainless steel.
- Safety Advice: Never leave the appliance unattended during operation. Do not place metallic objects like knives, forks, spoons, or lids on the hob surface as they can get hot. Ensure ventilation openings are not blocked. In case of a power cut, burners can be ignited manually with a flame.
Maintenance Features
- Regular Cleaning: Clean the hob regularly to prevent deterioration of the surface material. Deactivate the appliance and let it cool down before cleaning. Use a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents. Avoid abrasive products, solvents, metal objects, water spray, or steam cleaners.
- Burner Cleaning: For enamelled parts, caps, and crowns, wash them with warm soapy water and dry them carefully. Do not clean burners in the dishwasher.
- Pan Supports: Pan supports are not dishwasher safe and must be washed by hand. Remove them to easily clean the hob. Ensure they are placed back in correct positions, with arms aligned with the centre of the burner, to prevent damage to the hob top.
- Spark Plug Cleaning: Keep the ceramic ignition candle and metal electrode clean to prevent difficult lighting. Ensure burner crown holes are not obstructed.
- Stubborn Stains: For burnt food, fat, or stubborn stains, let them soak in a small amount of mild detergent for a few minutes before cleaning.
- Stainless Steel Care: Wash stainless steel parts with water and dry with a soft cloth. Use cleaning products specifically designed for stainless steel. Avoid corrosive chemicals, disinfectants, stain/rust removers, or immersion cleaners.
- Periodic Maintenance: Contact an Authorised Service Centre periodically to check the gas supply pipe and pressure adjuster (if fitted).
- Troubleshooting: The manual provides a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as no spark, flame extinguishing after ignition, or uneven flame ring, along with possible causes and remedies. For unresolved issues, contact an Authorised Service Centre.
