The Zanussi ZMBN4S is a microwave oven designed for heating food and beverages. Usage Features
The microwave oven features a control panel with a digital display, power level keys, favourites keys, auto defrost key, kitchen timer key, more/less keys, start/confirm/quick start key, stop key, and a door open key.
- Clock Setting: The oven has a 24-hour clock that can be set upon first plug-in or reactivated later.
- Standby (Economy Mode): The oven automatically enters standby mode after 5 minutes of inactivity, switching off the display if the clock is not set, or displaying the time if it is.
- Child Safety Lock: A safety feature prevents accidental operation by children. It can be activated or deactivated by pressing and holding the STOP key. When active, all keys except the STOP key are disabled.
- Microwave Cooking: Users can set the desired power level (90W, 270W, 450W, 630W, 900W) and cooking time. Power levels can be adjusted during cooking.
- Power Levels:
- 900 W/HIGH: For fast cooking or reheating (e.g., soup, casseroles, canned food, hot beverages, vegetables, fish).
- 630 W: For longer cooking of dense foods (e.g., roast joints, meat loaf, plated meals) and sensitive dishes (e.g., cheese sauce, sponge cakes).
- 450 W: For dense foods requiring long conventional cooking times (e.g., beef dishes) to ensure tenderness.

- Auto Defrost: Automatically calculates cooking mode and time based on food weight. Two menus are available: Meat/Fish/Poultry and Bread. Time/Power adjustment is not available in auto defrost.
- Cooking Charts: Detailed charts provide guidance for heating various foods and drinks, defrosting, and cooking from frozen, including quantity, power level, time, and method.
- Microwave Safe Cookware: A table lists suitable and unsuitable cookware materials (aluminium foil, china and ceramics, glassware, metal, plastic/polystyrene, freezer/roasting bags, paper plates/cups/kitchen paper, straw/wooden containers, recycled paper/newspaper) with comments on their usage.
- Microwave Cooking Advice: Provides tips on food composition, size, temperature, arrangement, covering, piercing (e.g., potatoes, fish, chicken, sausages), stirring, turning, rearranging, standing time, and shielding. It specifically warns against heating eggs in microwave ovens.
Maintenance Features
- General Cleaning: Regular cleaning is crucial to prevent food deposits from affecting the appliance's life and safety.
- Door: Clean both sides of the door, door seals, and sealing surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers.
- Oven Interior: Wipe splatters with a soft damp cloth or sponge after each use. For heavier spills, use mild soap. Do not remove the waveguide cover. Avoid spray cleaners and ensure the waveguide cover, oven cavity, turntable, and support are dry and grease-free.
- Oven Exterior: Clean with mild soap and water, then dry with a soft towel.
- Control Panel: Open the door before cleaning to deactivate the panel. Wipe gently with a water-dampened cloth. Avoid excessive water or chemical/abrasive cleaners.
- Turntable and Turntable Support: Remove and wash in mild soapy water, then dry with a soft cloth. Both are dishwasher safe. Allow the turntable to cool before cleaning. Do not place hot foods/utensils on a cold turntable or vice versa.
- Steam Cleaner: A steam cleaner should not be used.
- Commercial Oven Cleaners: Do not use commercial oven cleaners, steam cleaners, abrasive, harsh cleaners, or scouring pads containing sodium hydroxide.
- The appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and persons with reduced capabilities, with supervision and instruction.
- Children should not play with the appliance and should only perform cleaning/maintenance under supervision if aged 8 and above.
- Not intended for use at altitudes above 2000m.
- If the door or door seals are damaged, the oven must be repaired by a competent person before operation.
- Only competent persons should carry out service or repair operations involving the removal of covers that protect against microwave energy exposure.
- Liquids and other foods must not be heated in sealed containers due to explosion risk.

- Do not use the oven for drying food or clothing, or heating warming pads, slippers, sponges, or damp cloths, as this can lead to injury, ignition, or fire.
- If food smokes, turn off and unplug the oven, wait for smoking to stop, and do not open the door to prevent fire.
- Microwave heating of beverages can cause delayed eruptive boiling; handle with care.
- Stir/shake contents of feeding bottles and baby food jars and check temperature before consumption to avoid burns.
- Do not cook eggs in shells or heat hard-boiled eggs in the microwave, as they may explode.
- The appliance and its accessible parts become hot during use; keep children away from the door to prevent burns.
- Do not use the microwave oven to heat oil for deep frying.
- Individuals with pacemakers should consult their doctor or pacemaker manufacturer.
- Do not spill or insert objects into door lock or ventilation openings. In case of a spill, unplug and call an authorized service agent.
- Never modify the oven.
- Only use the turntable and support designed for this oven; do not operate without it.
- The electrical outlet should be readily accessible or the oven should be isolatable from the supply by a fixed switch.
- The power supply cord must only be replaced by an electrician or qualified persons.
- The socket should not be behind the cupboard.
- Connect to a single-phase 220-240 V/50 Hz earthed socket.
- Do not crush the power supply cord during installation.
- Do not immerse the power supply cord or plug in water.
- Do not allow the power supply cord to run over hot or sharp surfaces.
- Water vapor or drops on oven walls/door seals are normal and not a malfunction.
