chosen or in case it is not clear what the above statements mean, jump to Step 23
(procedure finished).
Step18 Set option LIMIT DEVICE to OFF and recycle the key.
Step19 Move the hand wheel until the wished maximum (in the direction of plus 90
degrees) steered wheel angle is achieved (Increase 1ST ANGLE COARSE
- and FINE - if necessary). This position corresponds to the maximum value
of the FEEDBACK ENC reading in the TESTER menu.
Step20 With the steered wheel in this maximum angle, enter and save the
adjustment SET MAX FB ANG on the hand set to memorize the steer angle
feedback encoder voltage for the maximum limit position.
Step21 Move the hand wheel until the wished minimum (in the direction of minus 90
degrees) steered wheel angle is achieved (Increase 2ST ANGLE COARSE
- and FINE - if necessary). This position corresponds to the minimum value
of the FEEDBACK ENC reading in the TESTER menu.
Step22 With the steered wheel in the minimum angle, enter and save the
adjustment SET MIN FB ANG on the hand set to memorize the steer angle
feedback encoder voltage for the minimum limit position.
Step23 Procedure is finished. Don’t forget to turn the special adjustment DEBUG
OUTPUT to level 15 if never done before
Step24 Carry out the complete set-up procedure (see 10.1).
9.4 Twin Pot with Encoder and Toggle switches. Steered wheel with
mechanical limitation: one shot installation procedure
This procedure is relative to the connecting drawings Figure 5-2. It shall be applied
when the steered wheel may rotate less than a full revolution because of mechanical
limitations (i.e. with end strokes). It describes the step by step installation procedure
to get the prototype working in manual mode: to raise the AUTC function it is
necessary to make the complete set-up procedure (see topic 10).
For every truck released on the field, the correct installation set-up is already known
(as it was determined from the test on the prototype) and so no installation
procedure is required except for the quick set-up (see the quick set-up 10.2).
Carry out the procedure in the following order.
Step1 Connect the AC motor phases in such a way the phase references U, V, W
on the steering motor correspond to the terminals references (U, V, W) on
the eps-ac0.
Step2 In the SET MODEL menu set the SYSTEM CONFIG setting to LEVEL 1 to
steer in closed loop with a twin pot in manual mode. Turn off and on the key
in order the setting is acquired.
Step3 Set the FEEDBACK DEVICE to OPTION #4 to specify your feedback
solution is an encoder in the motor shaft together with one or two toggle
switches. Switch off the key after the change.
Step4 Set option ENCODER CONTROL to OFF.
Step5 Set special adjustment DEBUG OUTPUT to level 11 and recycle the key.
(With this operation, some diagnosis are inhibited so inconsistent actions of
the steering system are possible. Be prudent).
Step6 Connect the encoder. The encoder supply is between CNB#4 (5 Vdc in the
24/36V version; 13V in the 36/48V version) and CNA#11 (GND): the two
channels are CNB#8 (CHA) and CNB#7 (CHB).
Step7 Recycle the key and try to steer. If an alarm BAD ENCODER SIGN occurs,
swap CHA (CNB#8) with CHB (CNB#7). Then recycle the key and verify the
