7) Check the readings have a consistent value (higher than 0V and lower than
5V. Close values are expected for truck of the same model).
8) If the right side value (ENC COUNT AT 180) is not in a window from 3/8 to
5/8 of the left side value (ENC COUNT AT 360), the display changes
cyclically from those values to the DATA ACQUISITION inscription.
9) If the couple of collected values is consistent (inscription in the display does
not change), the collected values are automatically saved in the adjustments
SET ENC AT 360 and SET ENC AT 180
10) If the couple of collected values is inconsistent (inscription in the display
changes from numeric values to DATA ACQUISITION), the collected values
are not saved and the operator must search for a problem in the sensors or
in the encoder.
11) Recycle the key to finish the autoteaching procedure (setting
AUTOTEACHING will be automatically turned OFF).
10.6 Manual teaching
It is possible to teach the settings SET ENC AT 360 and SET ENC AT 180 with a
manual procedure. As for the autoteaching procedure, the manual teaching can be
successfully executed only in case the correct value for AUX FUNCTION 11 is
known and the steered wheel has neither mechanical nor electrical angle limitation
(manual teaching is possible only when the stepper motor is used).
1) Set hardware setting AUX FUNCTION 11 to the correct value
2) If AUX FUNCTION 11 is level 2 or 3, read the ENC COUNT AT 360 in the
tester menu and start turning the steered wheel in the direction with positive
FREQUENCY.
3) If AUX FUNCTION 11 is level 4 or 5, read the ENC COUNT AT 360 in the
tester menu and start turning the steered wheel in the direction with negative
FREQUENCY.
4) If AUX FUNCTION 11 is level 0 or 1, read the ENC COUNT AT 360 in the
tester menu and start turning the steered wheel in the direction with positive
FREQUENCY
5) Initial value for ENC COUNT AT 360 is 5V.
6) After some revolutions it must switches to 0V level.
7) Continue to turn the steered wheel in the same direction until ENC COUNT
AT 360 switches from 0V to an intermediate level between 0 and 5V (e.g.
3.3V. This is the encoder counting for a complete steered wheel revolution).
8) Without delay, reverse the steering direction and watch the ENC COUNT AT
180 in the tester menu.
9) Initial value of ENC COUNT AT 180 is 5V.
10) After some revolutions it must switch to 0V level.
11) Without delay, reverse the steering direction again and watch the ENC
COUNT AT 180.
12) Continue to turn the steered wheel in the latest direction until ENC COUNT
AT 180 switches from 0V to an intermediate level between 0 and 5V (e.g.
1.62V. It should be a half of the ENC COUNT AT 360)
13) Enter and save the adjustment SET ENC AT 360. The value in the reading
ENC COUNT AT 360 will be recorded on SET ENC AT 360
14) Enter and save the adjustment SET ENC AT 180. The value in the reading
ENC COUNT AT 180 will be recorded on SET ENC AT 180
