Install Hardware Options
This section assists you in installing printer connectivity modules and media handling options.
Printer Connectivity Modules
The connectivity module’s access door must be removed (Accessing the Connectivity
Module Slot on page 17) prior to installing the following options:
Serial (RS-232 DB-9) Port - Installing the Serial Port Module on page 18
Internal Ethernet (LAN, RJ-45 connector) — supports 10Base-T, 100Base-TX and fast
Ethernet 10/100 auto-switching networks - Installing the Internal Ethernet (LAN) Module
on page 19
Media Handling Options
The printer’s standard bezel must be removed (Removing the Standard Bezel on page 22)
prior to installing the following options:
Label Dispenser (Peel-Off Liner and Present Label for Operator) - Installing the Label
Dispenser on page 23
General purpose media cutter - Installing the Cutter on page 24
203 dpi and 300 dpi Printer Resolution Upgrade Kit - Printhead Upgrade Kits on page 27
Media Roll Adapters for 38.1 mm (1.5 inch), 50.8 mm (2.0 inch), or 76.2 (3.0 inch) I.D.
media cores.
Note Install your connectivity module or media handling options prior to setting up and using
your printer for the first time. This will simplify and speed up the setup process. During the
initial setup, do not connect the printer to power until all printer hardware options have been
installed.
Note • For best printer performance, update the printer’s firmware after installing options or
immediately after the printer’s initial setup. See Updating Printer Firmware on page 92.
