Highlights
With powerful connectivity and
switching modules, the LinkBuilder
MSH hub can provide high-speed
FDDI floor concentration, as well
as floor-based switching between
Ethernet and FDDI LANs. High-
performance users get FDDI connec-
tions from the hub, while other users
keep their Ethernet links.
The FDDI RingBuilder module
creates an FDDI ring from multiple
FDDI fiber-optic concentrator mod-
ules within the LinkBuilder MSH hub.
FDDI-attached servers offer signifi-
cant improvement in file access over
Ethernet server connections in high-
bandwidth application environments.
The LinkSwitch 1200 module
and the LinkSwitch 1200 expansion
module provide full-speed switching
between up to nine Ethernet segments
and FDDI. The LinkSwitch 1200
module can connect to one of the
internal FDDI backplanes, or accom-
modate 1 or 2 FDDI fiber MIC media
modules for external single-attached,
dual-attached, or dual-homed con-
nections to the FDDI ring. The dual
homing feature provides additional
resilience by preventing the FDDI
ring from fragmenting if multiple
devices fail simultaneously.
