Table 4. Troubleshoot Conditions and Solutions
Condition Possible Solution
Welding helmet does not stay in the UP position Tighten the FRICTION setting on the side of the welding
helmet.
The welding lter does not turn ON Make sure the battery is properly installed.
Mare sure the correct battery is being used (CR2450N).
Replace the battery.
The welding lter does not trigger reliably or turns
light intermittently while welding
Remove the protective lm from both sides (if
applicable) of the outside protection plate.
Verify that the 4 sensors on the front of the welding lter
are not blocked by weld spatter, hands, pipes, objects
being welded, etc.
Review the sensitivity adjustment instructions and select
the appropriate setting for your type of welding process.
The welding lter stays permanently locked in a
dark shade
The welding lter shade is in LOCKED mode. Press the
SHADE LOCK button.
The welding lter turns dark when others are
welding nearby
Reduce the sensitivity setting. If this is still occurring at
setting 1, use curtains or other methods to block light
from other welder’s arcs.
The welding lter steadily pulsing light/dark with
no arc present
Check surrounding area for process or safety strobe
lights. Strobe lights can trigger welding lters from
a long distance or by reecting off ceilings, walls or
polished objects. Reected light from strobes not visible
to the eye may be strong enough to trigger the welding
lter.
The welding lter is “blurry” Remove the protective lm from both sides (if
applicable) of both the inner and outside protection
plates.
The welding lter has spatter bonded to the
outside and/or inside glass surfaces
The welding lter is permanently damaged and not
covered by warranty if protection plates were not used.
Always use outside and inside protection plates.
