      There could be several reasons why your A.O. Smith water heater isn't producing enough hot water. Here are a few possible causes and solutions: * The “ON/OFF” control switch might be turned off. If so, turn the switch to the “ON” position. * The blower might be unplugged. In this case, plug the blower back into the 115 Vac outlet. * There might be no power at the outlet. If this is the case, repair service to the outlet. * The thermostat might be defective, requiring replacement. * The control harness could be defective, also requiring replacement. * The high limit control circuit might be open.       A vent pipe that is too hot (above 170°F) on your A.O. Smith water heater may be due to: * A defective air flow restrictor. Immediately take the unit out of service and call an A.O. Smith service representative. * Insufficient dilution air mixing with flue gases in the inlet tee. Ensure proper dilution air is provided for combustion and flue temperature dilution. Refer to the “INSTALLATION” section. * Dilution air that is too hot for mixing with flue gases. Check for heat sources around the intake terminal and any blockage of the dilution air leg, as the supply air may be too hot. * The wrong burner orifice. Install the correct orifice.
