Parameter Description Specification of a parameter
Parameter Number Parameter address
Parameter/Process
Data Object Special object that contains Parameter and Process Data
Process Data Data that contains Control Word and Reference value or Status Word
and Actual value. May also contain other (user-definable) control
information
Profile Adaptation of the protocol for certain application field, e.g. drives
Request Label Coded information specifying the required service for the parameter
part sent from master to slave
Response Label Coded information specifying the required service for the parameter
part sent from slave to master
Slave Passive bus participant. In PROFIBUS terminology, slave stations (or
slaves) are also called passive stations
Status Word 16-bit word from slave to master with bit-coded status messages
Warning Signal caused by an existing alarm which does not lead to tripping of
the device
