  Several factors could be at play. It might be due to insufficient submergence of the suction pipe; ensure it's at least 3 feet below the water level. Verify that the pump's voltage matches the power supply voltage. Check the valve, suction piping, foot valve, or well point for any issues. The discharge system head might be too great, or the well depth could exceed the pump's capacity. The pump flow might be greater than the well flow capability. Ensure all connections are airtight and that the suction pipe isn't too small; it should be a 1-1/2" pipe.

  If your pump isn't priming, try these steps: Stop the motor, remove the 1-1/2" pipe plug, and fill the case with water. Ensure the pump voltage matches the power supply voltage. Inspect the valve, suction piping, foot valve, or well point. The foot valve might be sitting in sand or mud, stuck shut, or leaking. Check all connections to ensure they are airtight and check for a leaky shaft seal.
