  If your Acer Laptop is shutting down intermittently, ensure the power cable is properly connected to both the computer and the electrical outlet. Remove any extension cables or surge protectors between the computer and the outlet, plugging the computer directly into a known good electrical outlet. Also, remove any external and non-essential hardware and recently installed software.

  If your Acer Laptop shows no POST or video, first, ensure the internal display is selected by pressing Fn+F5. Check that the computer has power—fans should start, and status LEDs should light up. You can also drain any stored power by removing the power cable and battery, holding the power button for 10 seconds, then reconnecting the power and rebooting. Try connecting an external monitor and using Fn+F5 to switch displays. Disconnect all external devices, remove any memory cards and CD/DVD discs, and then restart the computer. Reseat the memory modules and remove the drives.

If permanent vertical/horizontal lines or dark spots are present in the same location, the LCD is likely faulty. If there's extensive pixel damage (different colored spots in the same screen locations), the LCD should be replaced. Adjust the brightness to its highest level and check that the display resolution is correctly configured.

  If your Acer Laptop experiences a random loss of BIOS settings, replace the CMOS battery if the computer is more than one year old. Run a complete virus scan using up-to-date software. If the computer is experiencing HDD or ODD BIOS information loss, disconnect and reconnect the power and data cables between devices. If HDD information is missing from the BIOS, the drive may be defective and should be replaced. Replacing the motherboard is also a solution.
