Overview

This document is a user manual for an AEG hob, model CCE84543CB, which integrates cooking zones with a hood extractor. The appliance is designed for domestic use in an indoor environment.

Function Description

The AEG hob features induction cooking zones and an integrated hood extractor. The induction cooking zones generate heat directly in the bottom of suitable cookware through a strong electromagnetic field, allowing for quick heating. The hob automatically adapts to the dimensions of the cookware placed on its surface. A pot detection feature indicates the presence of cookware and deactivates zones if no cookware is detected within a certain timeframe. The hob also includes a Bridge function, which allows two left-side cooking zones to operate as one, accommodating larger cookware.

The integrated hood extractor is designed to remove cooking smells and steam. It can operate alongside the hob during cooking or independently when the hob is switched off. The hood offers both manual and automatic modes. In automatic mode, the fan speed adjusts based on the heat setting level of the hob. A Boost function is available to activate the fan at its maximum speed for a limited period, useful for intense cooking. The Auto Breeze function ensures the fan continues to run at a minimum speed after cooking to remove lingering smells.

The control panel uses sensor fields for operation, with displays, indicators, and sounds providing feedback on active functions. Key functions include:

  • On/Off: To activate and deactivate the appliance.
  • Pause: Temporarily sets all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting and reduces the hood fan speed.
  • Timer: A countdown timer can be set for individual cooking zones to specify operation duration, or as a minute minder when cooking zones are not active.
  • Bridge: Connects two left-side cooking zones to function as a single large zone.
  • PowerBoost: Provides additional power to induction cooking zones for a limited time, accelerating heating.
  • OptiHeat Control: A 3-step residual heat indicator that shows if a cooking zone is hot (continue cooking, keep warm, residual heat).
  • Hood Control: Allows activation, deactivation, and adjustment of fan speed levels (3 levels) for the integrated hood.
  • AUTO (Automatic Hood Mode): Automatically adjusts hood fan speed based on hob heat settings.
  • Boost (Hood): Activates the hood fan at maximum speed.
  • Lock / Child Safety Device: Locks the control panel to prevent accidental operation.
  • Power Management: Divides available power among active cooking zones if consumption exceeds the supply limit, prioritizing the first selected zone.
  • Automatic Switch Off: Deactivates the hob automatically under certain conditions, such as prolonged inactivity, spills on the control panel, or overheating.
  • OffSound Control: Allows activation/deactivation of control panel sounds.

Usage Features

The hob's intuitive control panel allows users to easily select heat settings, set timers, and manage hood functions. The OptiHeat Control indicators provide visual cues about residual heat, enhancing safety. The PowerBoost function is particularly useful for quickly boiling water or searing food. The Bridge function offers flexibility for larger pots or griddles.

The integrated hood's automatic mode simplifies operation by adjusting fan speed without manual intervention, while the Boost function handles sudden increases in steam or smoke. The Auto Breeze function helps maintain a fresh kitchen environment after cooking.

For safety, the appliance includes a Child Safety Device and a Lock function to prevent unintended changes to settings. The automatic switch-off feature adds another layer of safety by deactivating the hob if it's left unattended or if issues like spills or overheating occur.

The manual provides guidance on suitable cookware, emphasizing the importance of flat, thick-bottomed, magnetic materials for optimal induction performance. It also explains the various noises that may occur during operation, assuring users that these are normal.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the appliance's longevity and efficient operation. The manual provides detailed instructions for cleaning both the hob surface and the integrated hood system.

Hob Cleaning:

  • The hob surface should be cleaned after each use, especially to remove melted plastic, sugar, or food with sugar, which can cause damage.
  • A special hob scraper and neutral detergents are recommended for cleaning.
  • Limescale rings, water rings, and metallic discoloration should be removed once the hob is cool, using a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent or a water-vinegar solution.

Hood Cleaning:

  • Grid: The cast iron grid covering the hood inlet can be washed manually or in a dishwasher.
  • Water Tank: A water tank collects condensation and needs to be emptied regularly. Instructions are provided for safely opening and draining the tank.
  • Filter Housing: Can be washed manually with mild detergent or in a dishwasher.
  • 2-in-1 Long Life Carbon Filter: This filter combines grease and odor filtration. It requires regular cleaning and periodic regeneration.
    • Cleaning: The filter should be washed in warm water without cleaning agents (to protect odor filtration) or in a dishwasher at 65-70°C (without detergents and other dishes).
    • Drying: After cleaning, the filter must be thoroughly dried in an oven (20-30 minutes at 70°C using a non-fan function) or air-dried overnight.
    • Regeneration: The filter needs to be regenerated in an oven (60 minutes at 80-110°C using a non-fan function) when the notification indicator blinks. The hob has a built-in counter that tracks usage and signals when regeneration is due. The filter can be regenerated a maximum of 7 times before needing replacement.
    • After regeneration, the counter must be reset manually.

The manual also advises on preventing water or liquids from spilling into the hood system and provides steps to clean up such spills. Regular cleaning of the hood filter is highlighted as important to prevent fire risks from oversaturated filters.
