This document is a user manual for the AEG CDE84751FB hob, an induction cooking appliance with an integrated hood. It provides comprehensive instructions for installation, daily use, additional functions, hints and tips, and maintenance, ensuring users can get the best performance from their appliance.
Function Description
The AEG CDE84751FB is a built-in induction hob designed for cooking purposes in domestic indoor environments. It features multiple induction cooking zones that generate heat directly in the cookware, ensuring efficient and fast cooking. The hob is equipped with a control panel that allows users to activate and deactivate the appliance, set heat settings for individual cooking zones, and manage various functions.
A key feature of this appliance is its integrated hood, which operates alongside the hob to extract cooking fumes and steam. The hood can be activated and deactivated independently or can function in an automatic mode (AUTO) where its fan speed adjusts based on the hob's heat setting. This intelligent integration helps maintain a clean and fresh kitchen environment by minimizing unwanted cooking smells and excessive humidity. The hood system includes a grid that drives air into the hood and protects internal components, as well as a filter to prevent grease particles from entering the system. A water tank is also present to collect condensation generated during cooking.
Usage Features
The hob offers several usage features designed to enhance the cooking experience:
- Heat Setting: Users can easily adjust the heat intensity for each cooking zone using a control bar, with indicators showing the selected level.
- Pot Detection: This safety and efficiency feature detects the presence of cookware on the hob. If no cookware is detected on an activated zone, or if cookware is removed for more than 60 seconds, the zone automatically deactivates.
- PowerBoost: This function provides extra power to induction cooking zones for a limited period, accelerating the heating process. After this period, the zone automatically reverts to its highest heat setting.
- OptiHeat Control (3-step Residual Heat Indicator): This feature indicates the level of residual heat in the cooking zones, warning users about hot surfaces and suggesting whether the heat can be used for continued cooking, keeping food warm, or if it's just residual heat.
- Timer Functions:
- Count Down Timer: Allows users to set a specific duration for a cooking zone to operate. Once the time elapses, the zone deactivates, and a signal sounds. This timer can also be set for the hood independently.
- Minute Minder: This function can be used when the hob is activated but cooking zones are not operating, serving as a general kitchen timer.
- Power Management: To prevent exceeding the power supply's limitations, the hob automatically divides available power among active cooking zones, prioritizing the zone selected first.
- Hood Functions:
- Manual Fan Speed Adjustment: Users can manually select one of several fan speed levels for the hood.
- AUTO Mode: The hood automatically adjusts its fan speed based on the hob's heat setting, optimizing extraction efficiency.
- Hood Timer: Allows users to set a specific operating time for the hood.
- Boost Function: Activates the hood fan at its maximum speed for a limited time to quickly clear intense fumes.
- Breeze Function: Sets the hood fan to an extra-low speed for quiet operation, ideal for removing lingering smells or steam after cooking.
- Additional Functions:
- Automatic Switch Off: The hob automatically deactivates under certain conditions, such as prolonged inactivity, spills on the control panel, or overheating.
- OffSound Control: Users can activate or deactivate the audible sounds of the hob.
- Pause Function: Temporarily reduces all active cooking zones to the lowest heat setting and the hood fan speed to level 1, allowing for interruptions during cooking.
- Lock Function: Locks the control panel to prevent accidental changes to heat or hood speed settings during operation.
- Child Safety Device: Prevents accidental operation of both the hob and the hood, remaining active even after the hob is deactivated.
- Bridge Function: Connects two cooking zones to operate as a single, larger zone, suitable for larger cookware.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of the AEG CDE84751FB hob:
- General Cleaning: The hob surface should be cleaned after each use with a moist soft cloth and neutral detergents. Abrasive products, solvents, or metal objects should be avoided. Special care is needed for melted plastic, sugar, or fat stains, which should be removed immediately using a hob scraper. Limescale rings, water rings, and metallic discoloration can be cleaned with a moist cloth and non-abrasive detergent or a solution of water with vinegar.
- Hood Grid Cleaning: The aluminium and stainless steel grid covering the hood can be washed manually or in a dishwasher.
- Water Tank Emptying: The water tank, which collects condensation, needs to be emptied regularly. It can be accessed by sliding out the latches.
- Hood Filter Cleaning: The grease filter prevents particles from entering the hood system. The hob has a built-in counter that reminds users to clean the filter after 100 hours of use. The filter indicator blinks to signal cleaning is due. The filter and its housing should be removed and washed manually in warm water without detergents or abrasive sponges, or in a dishwasher at 65-70 °C without other dishes. After cleaning and drying, the filter and housing are reinstalled, and the counter is reset. The filter needs to be replaced after a maximum of 8 cleaning cycles.
- Spill Management: In case of liquids spilling inside the hood system, the hood should be switched off, the grid lifted, and the area cleaned carefully with a moist cloth or sponge and a mild cleaning agent. Excess liquid should be wiped away, and the hood should then be run at a higher fan speed to dry out any remaining moisture.
