Installation Procedure
Install the Retrofit Kit
Changes to the Card Cage Area
1. Locate the A7 Digital IF assembly. It is in the forth card slot from the power supply.
Refer to Figure 3.

2. If the existing A7 Digital IF assembly has large metal casting covers as shown in
Figure 3, this Option 322 or 340 retrofit kit is the wrong kit for your instrument. Stop
the installation.
This Option 322 or 340 retrofit kit is designed for newer instruments that already
contain the 2nd generation A7 Digital IF assembly, and other circuit assemblies
supported by this newer A7 Digital IF assembly. The 2nd generation A7 Digital IF
assembly has no large casting covers.
3. If the existing A7 Digital IF assembly resembles A7 in Figure 4, continue with the
installation.
4. Locate the A31 Wideband Analog IF assembly in the kit. This assembly is the one
with the MCX connectors visible on top of the board.
